New dining times, less complaint from late, now more for early?

Seems that by changing the dining times DCL is trying to decrease the complaints from late diners that it was too late, and now the early diners will suffer and hence complain. Catch 22? If most adults opt for the later seating, keep it at 8:00, keep early at 6:00, or at least adjust the ships arrival and departure times and onboard activities and shore excursions to help the early eaters to at least get showered! Seems an impossible task to make all happy, but as someone with small children, who wants 6:00, not 5:30, I am dreading rushing around after shore days.

Anyone else? Do we need a poll?

I also agree that you will never please everyone...we had early dining last June (6 pm) I did feel that we were rushed on occasion, but could not imagine eating at 8:30 with our kids who were then 8 & 10...just too late for us and could not imagine getting thru with dinner at close to 10 pm...we are currently signed up for early dining again for next June '03...if they permanently change the dining times I am not sure what we will do, but will probably want the later dinner seating...5:30 is really a bit too early (although DH seems to think it is ok, as we usually eat at 6 pm at home), but I think we should go for the 7:45 dinner, and just get a snack later in the afternoon. Anyway, June is a way away, so hopefully they will come to a decision soon and we can decide which way to go...

I really think that 1/2 hour is going to make a big difference. We sail on the Magic 09/14 and don't fly into Orlando until that morniing (arriving 12:30pm) so I know that the first day especially will be very chaotic! We have a 3YO DD so the late dinner seating isn't really an option. I guess we'll just have to cut afternoon activities short.:(

I'm happy that they changed the dinner times. We always took 6pm because we have 4 year old twins and found our kids would fall asleep at the late seating. But, we always felt rushed with early seating. I would now opt for the late seating if they change it to 7:45.

I agree TnE Mom, if the late seating starts at 7:30, then I would want to take my kids to that....But then everyone will want the late seating, the adults only will hate having all those little tired kids...and round and round. From those of us coming from the West U.S., 5:30 dinner translates to 4:30 and 3:30! It seems the best thing about the later late dinner time is just the deterrent to keep little kid numbers down!
