Howdy,

Does anyone know if we can add the Magic Your Way dining plan to a DVC reservation. I think it would be great if we could.

Thanks,
Frank :earboy2:

That is something we can't do as of yet. Maybe they will add it if enough members request it?

While speaking to my guide today, I was told this IS in the works for DVC members and should be available the first part of Jan. We'll be able to add the dining plan to our DVC ressies!

What is the Magic Your Way dining plan, how does it work and how much does it cost? I looked around the Disney site but didn't see anything. Anything is better than the Q + C dining certificates selling on eBay.
Thanks,
Joe

Wonder if you'll have to buy the MYW tickets to have the dining plan? I bet you do. So it would be ncie for those who don't use the new AP discount. But, I'm still happy even if I can only use one of them! Now, the DDE would be awesome!

Oh, no. :faint: I should have thought of that.... :sad2: Oh, well.

If this is true, I would probably go with the MYW ticket instead of the APs and just use our DVC discounts since a lot of them are duplicates of the AP discounts anyway. The dining option seemed like a really good deal to me but only IF you can choose the number of days that you want to add it for. For example, if I had a 10 day MYW ticket, I wouldn't necessarily want to add a 10 day meal addition to it, since we could be eating in our rooms on occasion, etc. I'm pretty sure you can choose the number of days that you want it for.

I don't think they will be tied to tickets. You can buy 10 day non-expiring tickets, how would you tie dining into that. The dining would have to be tied to your room ressies. I hope the rumor is true. We would definitely take advantage of this option!

Joe, try the Budget board for ways to get the Q&C vouchers at the price they were meant to be sold. They can be a good deal if you don't pay too much for them! I think most people are buying through the hotwire savings club.

from Mousesavers:

Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining

Available only with packages that include accommodations at a Disney-owned-and-operated hotel, the new Disney’s Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining is a convenient and affordable way to experience many of the unique Disney dining locations found across the Walt Disney World Resort. The additional cost is $35 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $10 per night for children (ages 3-9).

In addition to the regular features of the Magic Your Way vacation package, each day you can enjoy the following (per person, per package night) from more than 100 participating Walt Disney World Resort restaurants (click here to see a PDF file listing the restaurants):

One table service meal – includes appetizer, entrée, dessert, non-alcoholic beverage and gratuity/service charge

One counter service meal – includes entrée and non-alcoholic beverage, or full combo meal: entrée, side dish and non-alcoholic beverage

One snack – such as a snack-cart ice cream, box of popcorn, or medium soft drink at select counter-service and snack-cart locations

For example, a guest with a length of stay of 3-nights/4-days who elects to book Disney’s Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining would receive three table service meals, three counter service meals, and three snacks per person, for their stay. Children must order from the kids menu, when available.

Meal options are flexible and can be used in a variety of combinations, including using multiple meal options in any one day, exchanging one table-service meal for one character dining experience, exchanging two table-service meals for one meal at a dinner show (dinner show value is $50.22 for an adult or $25.43 for a child (3-9), including sales tax and gratuity) or exchanging two table-service meals for one table-service meals at a "signature restaurant" like the California Grill.

If choosing this plan, the Disney’s Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining must be purchased for all guests in the party ages three and up.

The downside I see for DVCers is if they keep the requirement that the package must be purchased for every person and every night of a stay. On average, we wouldn't eat out that much every day of a trip.

The meal plan sounds nice, but with all of the restrictions I think it would be better to go with the meal vouchers (If they will still sell them). DH and I split meals most of the time while at WDW, so unless we can get it for only part of the stay...

Looking at the mousavers site, its per night?

That would be great if it happens! We'd buy it in a second. DH and I were just talking about how much we miss those meal plans we got in the Dream Maker packages the other day! I really wouldn't care what ticket we had to buy to get, but I think it would have to be tied to your room ressie and how long you're staying.

It depends where you at as well. Since my children are all under 10, it would cost $105/night for the package. Definitely worth it for us. We always do at least three character meals a trip as well as most lunches out. Factor in snacks daily, and the price is pretty good. Yes, with the plan we will be eating out a little more, but I think that's great since it is vaction.

I think this would work out well for DVCers because if you trade two nights to get a dinner show or a signature restaurant (is Ohana a signature restaurant??? we love that place), then it's no big deal since the "off" night you can just cook in your kitchen.

I would love to take advantage of this since we stay with my DVC parents. I hope this rumour is true!

Ohana is a table service restaurant. You could eat there two nights in a row!

I really hope this is true... 35.00 for an adult to eat dinner, counter service & a snack seems reasonable... just hope you don't have to purchase it for your entire length of stay!

I'm willing to bet you'll need to purchase it for your entire length of stay - at least at this price.

The big way Disney will make money on these is with unused meals. $35 just doesn't cover it - we spend $35 on a sit down dinner per person - appitizer beverage entree and dessert. I can't believe Disney intends to give me a free counter service lunch and snack. It would be nice - but corporations usually have a profit motive. I'm guessing they are betting that a certain percentage of people skip their PSs - even when its paid for.

(by the way, I'd hate to be a cast member at a restaurant when someone decides Mission:Space is more important than their 6:00 dinner reservation - and shows up at a fully booked Le Cellier expecting to be seated at 7:00 with "But I paid for this!" )

The other way they will make money is to tie us to the parks. They don't have the LOS anymore - a functionally LOS meal package (and its flexible enough to make it work as a not LOS - a few "signature meals" will enable you to escape to Universal for a day and not lose money - but it will take planning) will encourage people to be back at WDW for lunch and dinner.

It seems that the whole ticket structure has been designed to give you a lot of freedom - but a whole lot of incentive not to use that freedom to spend your money elsewhere.

But if they offer DVC members the meal package - we will be happy campers - this is exactly how we eat at WDW - but we spend a lot more doing it.

If you break up your stay into diff segments, like switching resorts, or even moving out for the weekend. Do you think they would track that and make you get it for the entire length, or do you think you could get it for one segment?

I'd guess, and its all guesswork at this point - even if they will give us the option - that by checking out and checking in you could add dining for one part of your stay but not the other.
