I have a Kodak DC4800 camera that is 8 years old. That camera took great photos.

I am looking for one that weights no more than that one did (11 oz without battery), has 10X+ optical zoom (that one had 3x), not too worried about pixels (that one had 3.1M) since most are way more than I had, not a DSLR, point and shoot and manual (that one did both), digital video and not SONY due to the need for the special card.

What does everybody have and what do you like and dislike about your camera?

I have a Panasonic TZ5 that is a pocketable 10X zoom camera. It takes great pictures. Ck out the review over at dpreview.com It is a good place to read up on any of the cameras you consider.

I bought the Panasonic TZ5 from DELL for about $270.00.
Here is a shot in the "idiot proof" mode.
Full auto, through a glass patio door.
I cropped the image at Photobucket, and it is pretty compressed. The full size image has nice detail and color.

We just got the Sony DSC H50 but since you don't want Sony - the other camera we were looking at is the Canon S5.

I liked the Panasonic TZ5 because of its size but DH wanted something that had more features. Now, he needs to teach me to use it in the next 39 days.

Have fun shopping.
