New Deposit Requirements??

Did I read on some thread (maybe one of the reluctant-to-cruise husband threads) that someone alluded to "new" deposit requirements that may be less than the current $200 pp for 3 & 4 night and $250 pp for the 7 nighter?

Thanks CM Mom. So, just to be clear, there are no changes to the deposit requirements for Categories 4 through 12 for the 3, 4, and 7 night cruises, correct? There is only an increased deposit for Categories 4 through 12 for cruises of 10 nights or more.

I would check with DCL or your TA when you book. They could change the website tomorrow. I haven't read the thread recently but I believe the info was reported by someone other than Disney. The most accurate info will be from DCL at time of booking. So far I haven't seen anyone who has EXPERIENCED the higher rates but I may have missed something on the post.

I know Tim Larison has confirmed the change with DCL.

On 7-night or less cruises, in Categories 4-12, the only change is that final payment will be due 75 days out instead of 60. The depost changes were in Cats 1-3 on all cruises and Cats 4-12 for 10 nights and more.

That is correct--here is the official annoucement from Disney. Regular 7 night sailings in categories 4-12 will only see a difference in the due date of the deposit being 5 days instead of 7, and balance due 75 days prior to sailing instead of 60.

Disney Cruise Line® Deposit and Payment Policy Changes

In order to keep as much "popular cruise" inventory available as possible, Disney Cruise Line is making some changes to the deposit and payment policies. These changes should help eliminate last-minute client cancellations and will help to ensure that more of those clients who want to book a Disney Cruise vacation are able to do so in a timely fashion rather than waiting to see if there are cancellations. These new policy changes will take effect on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The changes are as follows:

· The required deposit for all Disney Cruises in the extremely popular suite category is increasing. For three- or four-night cruises, the deposit will change from $200 to $400. For six- or seven-night cruises, the deposit will increase from $250 to $500. And, for cruises that are 10 or more nights in length, the deposit will increase from $250 to $700. In addition, the deposit for room categories 4-12 will increase on cruises that are 10 or more nights in length from $250 to $350.

· Deposits for suites for all cruises will be required within three days of booking rather than seven days. Deposits for staterooms in categories 4-12 will be required in five days rather than seven days.

· Final payment for suites is changing from 60 days to 90 days, and final payments for staterooms in categories 4-12 will change from 60 days to 75 days for three to seven-night cruises, and from 90 days to 75 days for 10+ night cruises.

Yes, I had the part about the 4-12 7 or less wrong, sorry. I just now took the pr statement apart in the other thread that makes it a lot easier to understand.

And is that last line right, they shortened the one limit or it is backwards?

Again, sorry for the confusion, wasn't intentional.

I booked a Cat 11 land/sea last week for myself and Cash, the Wonder Dog and paid a $400 deposit to the TA.

HOLY COW! That is going up quite a bit for a deposit!! I planned on booking on board for a 7 day, while on board for our 4 day next May. Theres no way I'll ever be able to save up that much money PLUS save up money for spending while on the cruise!!!!!
