NEW DELUXE RESORT ANNOUNCED AT DISNEYLAND! Possibly next DVC???

you might be right but Aulani dvc charges the a state room tax (or maybe it is some other tax)
The state charges a room tax that applies to timeshares by design. There are other areas/counties where this happens as well. In all cases that I know of, it gets passed on to the guest who stays. My guess is this will happen for DL, they'd be crazy not to. They will get more taxes ultimately even with the rebate. It only rebates part of the taxes and reduces what extra they'd get based on the new project. I'd bet the mayor votes against it but cooler heads will prevail.

What exactly is this tax that is being charged to DVC stays at AUL? I thought timeshare is a real estate interest in the property and property tax is paid as part of annual dues. Why are DVC members getting taxed "twice" if it's the same tax that hotel guests pay although they don't pay any property tax?

I's a state imposed occupancy tax aimed at timeshares. http://www.taxrates.com/blog/2015/11/24/hawaii-transient-accommodations-tax-to-increase/ This is not uncommon, esp in the Carribean.

There is just a bit of room just to the left and behind of Star Wars Land. It's not a lot of space though. Your access into Disneyland could be right into the new land! Think they could theme the new Hotel to look like Tatooine? :rotfl2:

Haha that was my first thought when I saw the map and heard the announcement but seeing as it is supposed to be a 5 star resort I don't see how it could be Star Wars themed. Thats seems more suited to a moderate. I just hope they come up with something new regarding theming and not another beach, New orleans, or wilderness themed lodge. Maybe something inspired by Tomorrowland would be nice with a star wars touch to that. Only tomorrowland inspired lodging now is the Contemporary and that stopped being futuristic 20 years ago lol. More likely though I see something DCA themed.

Wouldn't it be great if it were an elegant Victorian style hotel, but Haunted Mansion themed?? It could still be luxurious and upscale, but with some subtle Haunted Mansion touches!

Although DL's HM is part of New Orleans square.

Well, that would have my son doing handstands!
