the title company that was recommended for a gratuitus transfer quoted me just shy of $800 plus recording fees to work up and file the new deed. Seems high IMHO... does that sound right?
 
Not sure if Hawaii is different but it does seem high. We did it in 2019 for $475 through First American but it was for SSR.
 
That may be a standard price in Hawaii for title services. I have no idea. But it is high compared to other states.

My understanding from TUG is that Hawaii has extra hoops to jump through, even for gratuitous transfers. That might explain the higher price. You might contact several of the title companies mentioned in these DISboards threads and ask their prices.

Yes, you are correct. After a little research I went ahead with it. Peace of mind it will be done right the first time. All good! thanks for responding :)
