Did anyone notice that dcl.com has been updated? One of the big things I noticed is that they removed the location of the laundry rooms from the deck plans. Do you suppose they're thinking people are getting too picky with their cabin locations in relation to noise and especially that coming from a laundry room?

That's an interesting question. One thing we noticed last year when we went in July is it seemed the hallway of the laundry room was much warmer when people were doing laundry. We are in the other hall this year so we'll see if that really makes a difference.

I didn't recall the deck plans ever showing the location of the laundry rooms (I though that was just another one of those things listed in the "gray" areas).

Does anyone have a stored copy of the plans that show the locations of the laundry rooms?

I don't remember the old plans showing this either. Could always be wrong though!

Maybe where I saw them was in the Passporter. I do remember seeing plans at one time with the laundry rooms listed.

me too

my passporter shows laundry rooms... and the end of Sept. we are assigned staterooms right across from one on deck 7... anyone ever experienced this location? We were 2 doors down from one on deck 6 last year and had on problem... but it looks like this one is laid out differently... much wider on the passporter map... hope this will not be a bother... and it may come in handy!:)

My guess is that they have trouble selling staterooms close to the laundry. With that said though, the laundry rooms also are not one of highlights of any ship, so why publicize them beforehand?

Our cabin was not by the laundry but I did use the one on deck 7. It is much bigger than the one on deck 6. There are at least twice as many machines.

The door to the laundry room on deck 7 is closest to stateroom 7590. (I was on the August 7th cruise and spent a little time there.) I can't speak for the noise level as my cabin was on a different floor, on the other side of the ship.

(Everyone like my use of the Billy Joel lyric for the subject line?)
I used the Deck 7 laundry room at around 3 a.m. on the Magic when DS had an "accident". I remember not knowing where the laundry room was in advance, never having seen it on a deck plan (I am holding my 2003-2005 brochure in my hand, and it is not shown) but I asked an ever-present maintenance cast member in the hallway where it was an she directed me. I don't recall it being too loud from the hallway, and I was not the only one in there. In fact, I think I still did not know where it was until I was really right at the door to the laundry room. I don't think most people know the location of the laundry room prior to getting to the stateroom right across from it. I have been directly across from a Stateroom host supply room, probably had a little racket from that at times, but don't recall it being a problem.

I had printed a copy of the deck plans before our last cruise (Sept '03) and I still have it. The area in the center of the decks where the laundry rooms would be located are gray. They aren't even "boxed" out.
The Passporter does have them on their deck plans, though.

My 2002-2004 DCL brochure does not show the laundry rooms.
We were in 7604, just down and across from the laundry rooms. It was warm in the laundry room itself, but no noise problem. People tended to put their laundry in and leave. As I recall there were only 4 washers and 4 dryers.
Only noise problem we had was from loud children running down the hall at 6:30 am. But THAT is because of parents, not anything DCL did.

It tends to get very uncomfortable in the hallway near the laundry room in terms of heat and humidity. But the noise level does not seem to be bad, even when all the machines are going. There is not much room for people to congregate, so you don't seem to get much people noise based on the time I spent around the laundry on the last cruise. Can't speak about whether the rooms get more uncomfortable, but all the rooms that are across from the laundry would have a verandah of some sort, I believe, so air movement would be less of an issue.
