So is this new Basic DDP worth it. I have AP and I am trying to decide what to do. We are a family of 5 we will be down for 8 nights in August we have 7 dinners booked and a few buffet breakfasts booked also. I realize that I will have to pay for the breakfasts but I was wondering maybe I should skip the DDP and just get the DDE. Help I need advice.

You could look into the Deluxe dining plan if you have booked table service dinners and table service breakfasts.

If you plan to eat one TS meal per day (or more), then it will save you money. If you would eat more CS instead, then it could be a wash.

We like to eat a TS each day so it does save us money. DH also really likes knowing that the bulk of the expenses are paid before we get there, so we would probably use the DDP even if all things were equal.

My family of five saved a ton of money on the DDP. Never had the AP so I can't compare.

If you use the TS for dinners it should work for you and save you money. QS avg is $10-$15/adult and dinners range from $25-$30. Do the math.

Also, the dynamics of your family of five plays a role. Are they "adults" or "children" . The more "children" the better the "deal". If you have at least one TS per day planned and a good number of them are character meals then you should be at break even maybe even better off with the DDP. The more character dining you remove the less the savings becomes.

It depends on what TS meals you have. If you are eating at Coral Reef type places (that costs more) then you will save more. If you are eating at places like 50's PT or breakfasts, then you will just about break even, but save a little.

DDE gives 20% at most table service meals. I would go to the restaurant menus and see what you would eat at the most expensive and least expensive of your days to see which way you would come out ahead.

I don't understand the logic here. Character meals we've done are by far, some of the least expensive TS meals. Well, except for CRT, of course.

Maybe we missed some of the really good ones.
