New credit card, must go to counter

My future reservation (as a Gold/President's Circle member) says it has "standard counter" service.

I've been a Gold member for decades (and a PC member for a long time) so this isn't my first rental.

I added a new credit card to my profile to use for this rental -- is this why I'm being directed to the counter?

Can I have my credit card "pre-verified" at another random Hertz location (not in conjunction with a rental)?

Probably. Call your local spot and see if that will be OK before you make the trip down there.

It might just be the specific location you are going to. I used to work for Hertz but it was a while ago so things might have changed but I can't ever remember needing to see an existing Gold member because they were using a new credit card. Standard counter might just mean that they still keep the Gold slips/keys behind the counter and therefore still need for you to actually show up to give it it to you directly rather than keep them in the car.
