New Countries in EPCOT... please vote!

What country should they add to the world showcase? I've been thinking about this for a while. I know, my opinion doesn't really matter and adding countries cost a lot, yada yada yada. This just for fun and these are some of the countries I would like to see and some stuff I think would make interesting landmarks for their perspective pavilion. What country would you like to see added? And why?


1. Australia - The Sydney Opera on the lakeside with a movie inside. Maybe Ayers Rock as the backdrop.

2. Egypt - Pyramids, the Sphinx! You know it would look neat.

3. Spain - The Escorial.

4. India - Agra Fort or Khajuraho. I like the Taj Mahal, but it's a mausoleum.

5. Russia - Red Square and St. Basil's onion-shaped domes.

6. Switzerland - Maybe the long awaited Matterhorn.

7. Greece - The Parthenon

8. Peru - The Andes and Machu Picchu.

9. Brazil - Carnivale all the time!

10. Ireland - (I know it's part of the U.K.) St. Patrick's Cathedral or Ashford Castle


I love the World Showcase. But it's fun to dream. I don't want to change it, just add to it. Plus I think every country should have it's own film or ride.

I chose Greece, because it's so different from what's already at Epcot.

India and Egypt remind me of Morocco.
Australia and Ireland remind me of Canada and England.
Peru, Spain, and Brazil remind me of Mexico. (even tho Brazilians don't speak Spanish.)
Russia and Switzerland remind me of Norway.

That's why I choose Greece! Epcot could use another country!



Edited: My son reminds me that Greece is similar to Italy, but oh well, I still choose Greece!

It's a hard choice between Egypt and Greece. Both, or either one would make a great addition.

It would be easy to pick a focal points, rides and food.

Oh yeah, bring on new countries!

I choose Ireland, but Australia would be good too.

I chose Ireland, but any of them could replace France and I'd be happy. Nothing against the real France, but the area at Epcot leaves a lot to be desired, imo.

Since I have an Irish DH and four Irish DD's I vote for Ireland!!! Plus I could NEVER stand to be in flight long enough to see the real thing!!! Ireland In EPCOT would be fantastic!!

Russia! I would love to see something like the Hall of Russian leaders from the leader of the vikings who settled in Russia to Putin the current Russian leader. It could be called Dictators on Parade.

For adding variety to WS, I voted Greece. I guess I mostly thought of what kind of authentic restaurant would most appeal to me, and that would be *different* from what is already there.

My vote would be Portugal. Small country but great food.

Greece and Australia would be cool too.

The only Spanish country in the WS is Mexico. Given the number of countries in the world that are hispanic, something other thn Mexico seems reasonable. The entire continent of South America is left out, while North America is completely represented. Asia, Africa, and Europe are all represented.

How about 2 new countries. Australia and Venezuala. There has to be one with a rich history and good theme possibilities for a rollercoaster.

That was a tough one. Maybe a few years ago I would have said Russia but this poll I went with India.

Russia! How neat would it be to see a St. Basil's cathedral in Florida?! Throw in some blinis and I would be a very happy camper!

Thankyou to all those who voted and posted. It looks like Australia is the big winner. IMHO India or Australia would be great additions but ChairborneRangr has a valid point...

Maybe one day EPCOT will get a new country in the World Showcase, until then I can dream.
