A good decision. Des is probably as close to a 'Richard Whitely' as you'll get so Countdown should be able to continue virtually 'as is'!

Oh Kaylee, I am a wally, when your thread said 'Countdown' I was looking for Des in your countdown - I see you're talking about the programme, I think Des is a good replacement for Richard Whitely (and he's good on the eyes too)

I don't watch Countdown that much but I think Des will do fine. As Mandy says he is easy on the eye, better than Paul Merton or Noel Edmonds.

FIL is the big countdown fan, but I'm with Di here Des would not encourage me to rush home to watch.

Suppose as long as the faithful countdown fans are happy, then that is all that matters
