New Contemporary Resort Monorail/Incredibles Room Theme Announced - With Pictures

I would like to try it first, maybe offer a huge discount and I would

just to add - when Disney reopened, we took advantage of the 40% to stay at the Contemporary in August, and we enjoyed it a lot, but thought the rooms did need refreshed. We normally overlook Contemporary as being too expensive glad we had the chance to try it.

Also, we thought the pirate rooms at CBR seemed odd, but we had a chance to try it when we added a day to a trip and thought the pirate theme was fun.

It looks like it's probably as close to the very original design of the rooms in 1971/2 when it opened...it had a 1970's/mid-century spacey future look then, which only lasted a year or two before it became a more generic 1970s bold-pattern look. The problem is, it looks like it's trying to be 70's/future retro without pulling it off in a truly classic homage way. It does just look a little on the cheap side...I think there could have been more 70s retro future style incorporated with higher-end retro furnishings, and I don't think they should have tried to redesign the cutouts of the windows which looks like a facade. I'm also not big on 'theming' every hotel with a movie - the Incredibles tie-in could have just been the retro future aesthetic without actual character incorporation - make it look like a building and rooms that might have existed in the movie for the characters to visit, but without the cartoon characters stenciled into the design.

I'm torn. I previously HATED how so many of the more "upscale" resorts lacked any Disney feel inside of them. With that being said tho, I really feel this makes the rooms look more on the scale of what I'd expect from Art of Animation or something like that. I don't mind the characters at all but the over all vibe they went with in my opinion cheapens the feel of the rooms.

So do I 100% hate the rooms, no but I really don't think they are a good fit for the contemporary resort. It kind of gives off a more "vintage" vibe to the rooms and I really don't think that's the idea behind the contemporary. Does anyone else kinda feel almost a 70s space vibe?

OMG! The TWA Hotel at JFK with characters. That is EXACTLY what this looks like!!! (And I would never stay at the TWA Hotel at JFK even if I had a 5am flight on JetBlue. ICK!)

I’m surprised they went with the light carpet. That’s not going to look good for too long. Overall the theme doesn’t bother me too much, but I do feel it is not a “deluxe hotel” look, and perhaps leans towards the Values, actually.

I didn’t even notice the carpet. Now I really like it!!

It's a bit ironic because The Contemporary, itself, is already an iconic WDW theme. I don't think it needs to be 'Disney-fied' because it already is.

But, I don't really have strong feelings about it either way. It's still our favorite resort.

I'm somewhat disappointed. I love the Contemporary, I know I'm in the minority but it's my favorite WDW hotel. It's just so iconic & the one I looked at longingly when I was a kid. I wish they'd have gone with a Mary Blair/Small World/Fantasyland theme.
I like the Incredibles movies, but they're nowhere near the top of my favorites list. And I agree that this looks more value than deluxe. We own DVC at BLT & I hope the theme doesn't carry over, but if it does I'm sure I'll just be happy to be home & it won't bother me too much.

IP should NOT be in a deluxe resort unless you are using an IP that can be used to a more upscale look.... take Moana for instance where they limit the use of the character but use the aesthetics of the movie. This is abhorrent and not worthy of the prices Disney charges for this resort. If you are going to put this trash/tacky look into a Deluxe resort then change its classification to moderate and lower the prices....complete waste of a design.
