I can do CP for 8 nights for about $801 incl. tax (3 bdrm) or Vistana for the same number of nights for about $972 incl. tax (2 bdrm).

Anyone have any thoughts on which would be better? We will be me, dh, our ds#1 and ds#2 (7.5 and 3 at the time of travel). Our friends just did a 3 bdrm at CP (3 adults, 4 kids) and said that the second bdrm in the unit was very small, and had a twin bed w/ a trundle. When you pulled the trundle out, there was no room to move. We're hoping our youngest ds will be in a bed by then, but there is no guarantee and if not, there is no place to put him in a crib, so we're thinking of the 3 bdrm unit at CP. I believe the 2 bdrm units at Vistana are big enough that we would be okay.

Anyone with any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks again.

Janet - you are only going with 4 people - correct.

then either one would be fine.

Vistana had more for your kids to do. well the 7 year old anyway.

but they are both a little to young for most of the Vistana programs (my opinion).

Vistana has the better swimming pools.

I would go with the better price myself.

I guess my feeling is that most people really seem to like Vistana and the rate is pretty good. But people also seem to like CP. When we went in December, we had a great weather week (12/4-12/11) so we spent one of the afternoons at the pool at Windsor Palms, where we were renting. The pool isn't that large, but the kids enjoyed it. We didn't do any other resort type things, and I'm not sure we would anyway (considering I'd have to run after the 3 yo all the time) but I'd love a great pool and I think both of these resorts have them.

I think I'll wait until I see the pictures our friends took from their visit to CP in January and see if I like what I see. If so, then we'll probably do CP and perhaps hope for a solicitation to Vistana or try it at another time.

Thanks for your response.

OP,

Where did you get that rate for Vistana? Even the Starwood paynow has the 2 bdrm at $170 plus tax per night.

When we stayed at CP our second bedroom had 2 twin size beds. It was not a huge bedroom, but had plently of space for my 6 & 7 year olds. I just thought I would share this info with you that not all the 2nd bedrooms are trundle beds.

I thought all the renovated suites at CP had trundles now? But either way, a trundle is a single bed with another single bed "hidden" under it. There is no reason to pull it out unless its needed so you would have room for a crib. I haven't stayed at Vistana but CP has several pools, including kiddies pools. From what I hear, Vistana is fancier though but we had a great stay at CP.

Heres a few pics

The renovated rooms may all have trundle beds in the second bedrooms now. I was at CP in Dec. 2003 and that is when we had the 2 twin beds in the second room. It may have changed since then. We stayed at CPGV in Oct. 2004 and had 2 twin beds in our second bedroom there.

The rate I mentioned is one that is offered through another website I frequent called Allearsnet.com. They are offering a rate of $109/night for a 2 bdrm during Sept. Other rates are also available.

We are staying at the Vistana in early April for six nights and the allearsnet.com rate saved us about $80/night as compared to Expedia.com. Definitely worth it. Though calling the reservation desk they said all nights were available except one. When we went to Expedia that night was available, so we called back and they gave us the additional night at the lower rate.
