The Fabulous Disney Babe has a new article with pictures of her visit to DCA.

www.laughingplace.com

Somewhere on the second page, she mentions a tip from some higher-ups who say the Rock-n-roller coaster is heading to DCA.

FAB, I love the RNR, but it would make me want to go to DCA more if they would just reimagineer the ride into something different. I hate carbon-copies of the same attraction at the two parks. How do you feel about it?

Since Indy is not at WDW, it makes me want to plan a trip someday, donchaknow...

I agree.

I think it's not only a let down, but somewhat stupid! Why plan a trip to Walt Disney World from the west coast when the E tickets of Disney World are at Disneyland? They're getting the Tower of Terror, and now the Rock 'n Roller Coaster! I don't need to go to the West Coast because I can stay on the East Coast for a LOT cheaper and go to Disney World.

My question is why have the RnRC when they have CA SCreamin'? They need something more original.

Exactly. If people want coasters in southern california then they can go to Knotts or SFMM -- Disney should offer attractions that only THEY can produce.

they really need to do something new, different, exciting.

this is getting sad.

they have to stop trying to bank on past success'

most def.

i "once' thought of going to DCA.
but they keep giving me no reason to

I hope to go the west coast next year to visit Disneyland after we go to WDW. And notice that I only said Disneyland, not Disneyland resort. The Indy ride makes a trip worth it IMO because it's so unique and so much FUN!. Then there's Toontown, the cute rides in Fantasyland and so on. California Soarin' is cool but hardly worth the admission price into DCA.

Come on PG, don't tell me you didn't use hoppers??? For our trip we got the 4 day hoppers that came out to $28.00 per day. DCA was certainly worth it!

Remember this is just rumor. I wouldn't think Disney would copy RnR as the theme even if they cloned the ride. Wouldn't Aerosmith have to get more royalties? And even stupid ole Disney has to know Aerosmith is getting...Well...Old.

I would find it hard to believe that they would add a second roller coaster to DCA.

Of course when you think about it, the Maliboomer is kind of like TOT in terms of ups and downs. Of course I should be careful since I have never actually riden Maliboomer.

I do think they need something original in place of SuperStar Limo.

How long is that ride going to be "refurbished"?

Mr Pirate, we did use hoppers but spent most of our time at Disneyland. That is my son and I did because my husband lost interest and explored the area for a few days instead of going to the parks. There's no accounting for taste! ;) There's just so much to see in southern California that I intend to visit Disneyland for only a few days. I'm completely smitten with San Diego to start with and people keep telling me about more and more places that we need to visit. So it's truly not my fault. :)

As for the possible coaster, Aerosmith is certainly getting old (aren't we all? ;) )but weren't some people talking about using 50's music on a new coaster? Didn't I keep hearing the Beach Boys and the Mamas and Papas and so on in the DCA entrance plaza? Now, you're really talking old!

That's just their summer concert series! :)

I thought the fossils were kept at DAK?

PG, we spent most of our time at DL too, but since the hoppers cost 28.00 per day (much less than the daily admission to DL), I can't see how DCA is a bad value?

You and I have the same opinion of seeing California (and being impressed) only I couldn't stand San Diego-LA but I love what I've seen of Central & Northern California. I can say that we will get back to Monterey again someday!

As for the coaster, any quality ride will be a plus, but I still think if it is RnR it'll be a different theme...Perhaps a limo ride to the final game of the World Series featuring the Anaheim Angels...LOL!

The rumor is that the California version of ‘Rock’ will be the Disney Studio Paris version – no preshow or loading area. As I’ve heard it, the band bascailly tells you via video monitors that they’re trying out this really cool new roller coaster and you’re invited along for the ride.

No recording studio, no back alley, no race to the concert.

And even at $28 per day, DCA is a bad value. It's going to be interesting on Thursday how much of Disney's problems get blamed on the parks in general, and on DCA in particular.

Now for all the Southern California bashing….

$28.00 for two parks is bad?...I just don't see it. Was a 4 day pass to DL less than 111.00 before DCA?

Sorry about the negative So. Ca. comments. It's really just too much traffic for me. Remember I live where there is one road...

RNRC is only a half way decent coaster at best and not worth putting into another disney park!!!!! A second coaster would help the park and increase attendance if done right!!! I excellant wooden coaster would be a first for disney and would be great. But if they go with Vekoma and build another coaster it will be medicore like most of DCA if the reports are true.
Now they need to build something of the quality of the Hulk with some excellant theming, but im sure due to the cost it wont happen and the attack of the clones will just go on and on!!!

My opinions:

1. RNRC would fit with the dca theme pretty well.

2. RNRC would really help dca

3. DCA could use another roller coaster

4. California Screamin already reminds me a lot of RNRC (without the teme - I mean the launch and inversion), I wish that the coaster itself would be different

I don't think there is room in dca for a "hyper-coaster" that wouldn't blow the sitelines of all of disneyland. I'd like to see something like X or wicked twister, I guess, but themed to disney quality. The RNRC type of theme, with the limo and everything, works for me for dca themewise.

We went in November 1999 (pre DCA) and got 5 consecutive days for the price of 2.

The point is, if your hopper works out to $28 per day for 4 days, most people would consider it a better value to get a 3 day hopper at $28/day and skip DCA.

The only reason DCA is such a cheap add-on is that guests wouldn't pay was was originally charged.

Oh I agree, but that doesn't change the fact that for $28 DCA is a great "gimmee" for us out of towners does it? (and the hopper was also available in a three day version when I was there). Personally I find it odd that DL AP'ers don't take more advantage of "Soarin'", CS & The Electrical Parade...Or do they? The fact that the Park is a relative dud doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the few great things that it does offer, unless other factors are influencing the decision.

The three day hopper is $114.

I don't deny that the prices look good on paper but there is another valuable commodity being used that no one has mentioned and that is time. We definitely enjoyed southern California but felt like we'd only scratched the surface during our 9 day trip. I feel like two full days is enough for Disneyland while the rest of our days could be devoted to other sights.

And yes, the traffic is HORRIBLE! That's another reason why we could use more time during our next trip.

Well, different prices for different times, I guess. Our 4 day hopper was only 111.00. The 3 day was 84 or 89 (I think).

Also, we used every minute of the 4 days at DLR. Of course we were at the GC and I had no desire to drive whatsoever. In fact we arrived at DL at 10:00 pm (coming from Monterey) intentionally so the traffic would be lighter (I didn't say light)!

I agree wth your statement about time though. We were gone for 11 days and we could do the same route next year and aside from DL wouldn't have to repeat a thing, I don't think. In fact we're considering another trip in the spring for our 20th...Perhaps SF, Monterey & Big Sur (especially Big Sur)...
