Last year our old artificial Christmas tree died, so we need a new one this year.

Does anyone have any tips on the best place to get one from (don't want to spend a furtune or get a real tree)?

Hi Tim

We found Homebase was reasonable and had a good selection in all price ranges - plus our local store is running a 20% off everything at the moment, maybe your's is too??

Good luck!

Karen

We got ours from Homebase a few years back and it still looks good as new!

We bought a lovely tree about 5 years ago from Makro very good value and still looks good :D

Tim - we also got ours a couple of years back in Homebase and it's still looking good as new.

Hope your old tree enjoys it's retirement;)

Nah Tim,get a real one::yes::

The smell of pine when you come into the house...mmhhhh:tongue:

OK and of hoovering up the pine needles, but it's worth it:hyper:

We always used to have a realy one until two years ago when the needles took three days - yep, three whole days - to completely shed:( We spent a fortune on another tree and, after finding those darned needles in the carpet for months afterwards decided that's it, it's a pretendy one for the lounge.

However, we do have a real one in a pot in the dining room and various decorated trees in the gardens:D

Since we'll be away this year, only going to decorate the pretendy one and one out front, but my faithful teensy pre-decorated tree is coming skiing with us:crazy:

My tree is also looking distinctly passed it's best and I'd wondered where to go for a visit so thanks for the tips - I think a trip to Homebase is on the cards!

Astrid :)

Had and look in Homebase yesterday and they had a good choice but the ones we liked were very expensive!

So, we nipped into Makro on the way home and got a very similar tree to the one we liked in Homebase for £29.99 plus VAT (the home base one was nearly £90!!!) :)

It's a William's Fir with a nice frosted effect.

Tim - try Woolworths. They had some lovely ones last year. We bought ours from Woolworths about 10 years ago and it still looks as good as the day we got in.

Jackie

Edited to add: That will teach me to read properly - see you have already bought one!

Hey Tim,

We got a new one last year too, and it's prelighted. DH likes that part the best. He even suggested that we leave the ornaments on, throw a plastic bag over it, and stick it in the basement. Pull it out after Thanksgiving and TADA!!!!

I was tempted.
