I have a feeling this is going to be a long thread ....
I'm a big DME fan, I especially love the automatic luggage delivery. Since I always pack 24 hours' worth of supplies in my carry-on no matter where I fly, the several hours' lag before checked luggage is delivered never affected me in any way.
But now, we aren't permitted to take liquids with us into the cabin of the aircraft. I may be branded as a heretic, but I think I might go to baggage claim and pick up my own luggage in November.
We arrive around 9:45 p.m. or so. I intended to have our bags delivered early the next morning and just function with our carry-ons for the first night. But now, we won't be able to bring toothpaste in our carry-ons, or my wife's contact lens solution. I can do OK with Disney shampoo, and maybe DIsney will start to provide little tubes of toothpaste, too. But my wife will need her contact lens solution.
As a result, we'll have to go to baggage claim before going to DME because we'll at least need the bag that has my wife's contact lens solution and our toothpaste (and she'll probably want her hairspray and cosmetics, too, now that I think about it). Anyway, if I'm already delaying myself by going to baggage claim to wait for a small bag with toiletries in it, I might as well wait for our 2 suitcases, too.
Do you think I have any way around this?
I wonder if a lot of people will do this, and whether the DME buses will be able to accommodate a possible surge in luggage brought to the buses.
