New camera

I'm looking for a new camera. We have a nice dslr camera but it is so bulky I don't want to carry it around to the parks. I know that my iPhone takes pretty decent pics, but I'm looking for another camera somewhere in between the two. Any ideas??

Look into the mirrorless cameras. Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, Fuji. All take nice photos and lose the bulk of a DSLR. All have their advantages, but the micro 4/3 have the best assortment of lenses right now.

Look at a Sony RX100 II, its small but offers really great image quality. not quite dslr level, but very good for a point and shoot.

micro four thirds is an option, but it is still bulkier than the RX 100, and the image quality is nearly the same.

I have an EOS-M and love it. Lens assortment is crap (like 2 or 3 lenses now) but the quality is good. Top notch for taking video as well.
