Don't get me wrong--I've gotten some great ideas from checking out the DL Pic of the day thread, as well as other threads with pics from posters. Unfortunately, I don't know where a lot of those sites are, even though they look vaguely familiar (some do, some are new to me). I've only been to DL twice before, and didn't take many pictures on those trips. This time I will have a digital Canon Rebel XTI (belongs to my yearbook club at school, bringing it for a workshop in Orange), and so I want to get practiced up by using it on my side trip to DL. What better place, eh?!

And what better source to get advice on where to get the memorable shots than from all of my DL collaborators on the DIS!! :grouphug:

When I was there, I couldn't stop taking pics of the Matterhorn mtn, the castle, and the castle with fireworks.

You HAVE to get a picture of the Partners statue with the castle;) I also have an amazing picture of the matterhorn at sunset. Fireworks are also a must. Also, dont forget about DCA, many amazing shots there.

When will you be going?
The park is themed different at various times of the year with different props.

The drawbridge walkway to the castle (straight shot from Main Street).
The Dumbo hedge behind the Dumbo ride (FL).
The "standstill" Dumbo ride car next to the Dumbo ride (FL).
The lagoon with the monorail going overhead (TL).
The Indian Jones authentic truck from the movie (turn left after Main Street).
The view of NOS from the Disney balcony (take stairs above POC).
The Pooh gang characters (CC).
Toontown has many props... bendable bars in the jail, a fallen safe, etc. to get good "comic" shots with (TT).
The waterfalls, koi ponds, & Neverland pool at Disneyland Hotel.
Downtown Disney is beautiful.
The Mickey planter after you go through the entry tunnels.
Main Street from the balcony of the Main Street Train station.
In DCA there is a giant net with fish in it that you can stand it... says "the greatest catch" (or something similar) (end of the pier).
The muppet spaceship in front of the Muppet Show (DCA at end of Blvd.).
The hedge sculptures of characters on the Disneyland Hotel grounds.
Tinkerbell flying the wire (have to be quick and pre-zoomed for this one).

A gazillion more...

If you haven't done so, be sure to visit the DIS photo board, lots of good people there.

I took lots of pictures of the signs for the rides. I'm a scrapbooker, so Iused those for my title pages. My SIL isn't a scrapper but she still incorporated them into her photo album instead of writing memos by the photos.

I took tons of pics from the DLRR while making our way around the park.
My favorite from that group of shots is one I took from near IASW. It's a great shot of the Matterhorn.
Also on the train ride got some great shots of Tom Sawyers Island before all the changes were made.

I took pictures of my son and SIL while riding the Tea Cups..that about to barf look is priceless!:lmao:

While riding TOT I whipped out my camera and took a picture at the top when the doors open..great view of DL! I know it's a no-no but I couldn't resist.

And of course awesome photos of the HM with the Nightmare before Xmas.

I promised my kids I wouldn't go as crazy with the camera this time.
We will take advantage of the Photopass CD, maybe I'll actually be in some of the pictures this time!

Have Fun!
Don't forget to bring a big Ziploc bag to keep your camera dry on wet rides.
My camera was in my backpack, but after getting drenched on Splash Mountain it would have been ruined if it weren't for that ziploc bag.

These are great ideas, everyone--thanks for taking the time to give them to me!

As soon as I read this, JM, I pulled out my growing pile of notes, tips, and directions from the DIS and wrote, "Bring ziplock bag for camera!!!"

(If I don't write it, I'll forget it. )

Of course, I shall be printing out this entire thread to take with me, so I can all to get all of these good ideas "on film". You know, with my digital camera. :rolleyes2 . LOL
