I called CAA today to inquire about getting a membership. They seem to offer alot of good discounts for car rentals, hotels and even vacations plans. I don't have a car, but was willing to pay for the membership nonetheless.
I was told that there was a new plan starting July 1st. It gives you all the discounts normally offered by CAA except for anything to do with a car, like roadside assistance, etc. Anyway I don't have a vehicle so thought this was right up my alley.
It cost $30.00(plus GST $32.10)for the year.
Just wanted to let you all know in case this was something you would be interested in.

GrannyEv,

Thank you so much for posting this about CAA. I would like to book POP for two weeks 12/06 hopefully with a CAA discount but do not have a membership yet. I think CAA 2006 rates might be available to book this August . I think the price will be 20% off value rates during value season which works out to a very inexpensive way to stay on site ( 79$-20% = 63US$/nt plus tax if my calculations are correct) . I don't have a CAA membership yet and this will give me the chance to purchase a CAA membership at a very inexpensive price.

I would much rather rent DVC points for the majority of the holiday but due to family health issues, I think that this is the safer route to go (booking at POP) due to cancellation policies.

Again, thanks for the info.

That's great - I just wish they'd told me this when I ordered my DH's $58 membership a couple of weeks ago. I did explain that we don't own a car and are getting the CAA membership for the travel perks/discounts....We get car coverage from the car rental places (for rentals).

I wonder if they'd let me downgrade my DH's membership since it's so recent? Might be worth asking...

When I called to enquire about it, they said I could get a "al a carte" membership because I have roadside thought the company we bought our car with. ( Which the one time I locked my keys in the car is was CAA that came to the rescue). Im actually heading out tommorow to get the membership, July is too far away ( I know its a week away) but we are going to need to card before that.
