We are considering DVC and have a trip booked for Sept when we thought we would take the tour. I assume we need a June UY if we want to travel from June - Feb timeframe. If we buy DVC in Sept, I assume we can only get 2010 points for our June UK contract? Or would we get 2009 points? Should I be concerned that BLT or AKV which is what we are considering, may have significantly reduced incentives at that point? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

We just got back this week and took the tour. They are offering a UY of Feb for BLT, so you might get an offer of it back dated. You can always ask.

When we bought in March, we were assigned a February UY (which, honestly, was fine with us).

But, if you buy in September, you should be able to get a UY for earlier than September which would allow you access to 2009 points (or, even sweeter, some are reporting receiving 2008 *and* 2009 points when purchasing AKV points).

In terms of incentives changing, there just really isn't any way to even gauge it. The incentives that were just released in April, 2009 were significantly better than the ones previously in place, but, again, who knows what the future holds? I will say that the rumor mill started up regarding new incentives around early-March, so my only advice would be to keep checking The DIS for any rumor news. I guess one positive to think about is if the incentives do change before your contract closes, you can always amend your contract to take advantage of the better incentives (which is something I, and many others with pending contracts were able to do).

They are selling June Uy for BLT points, as that is what I asked for when I bought points last month. You can request whatever UY you want and if they still have points available, they will give them to you. I think that the first UY that they were offering was Feb UY, but you are not required to take that one.

If you buy in September, you will get 2009 UY points for your June UY, since you will be in the June 09 UY at that point. Your dues for BLT will start from the time you buy. And, if you travel June - Feb, June UY is a great choice.

As far as incentives, no one knows for sure when they will end but be sure you have the name of a member so that you can qualify for any of the incentives that are available. There is a referral thread where you can find members names who would love to act as a referral for you.

Right now, they are pretty good and I think, just my own speculation, is that they will continue to offer the incentives for as long as they are bringing in sales.

We just recently joined AKV and are so happy with our decision to finally make the move!! It only took us 3 years to decide it was the right time As mentioned previously, we were able to start with a Dec. 08 UY, which gave us a little cushion! (This is only able to be done if you buy into Jambo as Kidani just opened)

We toured in January and the incentives are different now than they were then. We were told with AKV Kidani open and BLT opening soon, it no longer made sense to give out developer pts...the developer pts incentive ended about 6-8 weeks ago. Also, after joining DIS and doing a little research we realized how important the member referral was! It saved us an additional $1600 (on 200 pts)!! Let me know if you would like for my information before you head down to WDW in case you choose to buy in at that time.

I can tell you that when we spoke with a DVC guide last week we were told that current incentives are rumored to end June 15th. Although, I am sure a new batch of incentives will come out

Thanks everyone...I talked it over with my DH and we are thinking of buying right away if we can get June UY and get 2009 points. We really want to take the whole family in 2010 (end of August maybe) so we would need 2009 and borrow from 2010 points to go this. I guess I will call a guide today and see what they are willing to do for us. I would have preferred a tour first, but will see what they say. Maybe if we come down for the tour - they would put us up for the night? At this point, I am leaning towards BLT, purely from a location standpoint, and at 160 + 80 points for June UY. Any other advice would be great!

I am sure you won't have a problem with getting a June UY as that is what I have and I have already planned 2 vacations using my June 09 points!!! Also your MF's for 2009 will only be for 5 months (August through December).

I have also heard that others are getting Disney to give them the contracts in smaller contracts than the 160 so you might be able to get your 240 points in something other than just 160 and 80 if you want the smaller contracts.

If you have a June UY and want to travel in August, 2010, you would not borrow 2010 points, they would be current at that point. You would bank 2009 points to combine.

Are you anywhere near Chicago? Maybe a visit to Doorway to Dreams in Woodfield would be more convenient?

Good for you! As to whether or not DVC would put you up for the night - - here's some major pixie dust coming your way because if that happens you have truly worked some magic - LOL. You will probably get either a gift card or some VIP FastPasses for taking the tour or, like you said, you can just handle everything by mail. Either way, congratulations!!

DVC does not offer any complimentary stays to those seeking to purchase (nor to those who have already purchased either, lol). It is not a "typical" timeshare and you will not find those offers, but you will also not find the pressure associated with other timeshares either.

BLT is expected to sell out fairly quickly, so I don't think you can go wrong making your purchase there. Good luck!
