New bus dispatching coming in Jan.

Sure are a lot of current and past Mass people here!!! I have to wonder why it is that there are so many former New Englanders down in WDW, particularly driving those buses??!!!

Getting too old for cold and snow, that's why I'm here. Riding the motorcycle 12 months a year has it's advantages (espicially at $3.00 a gallon for gas)

Besides if you can drive in Boston, you can easily handle Central Florida. If you can handle driving on Cape Cod in the summer, driving a Disney bus is easy.

You could ask the bus driver to turn down the music or even turn it off, its possible for the driver to do this, well at least it is now, but Disney managment could change that when the system is officaily running in October.

Beilive me many drivers like myself get tried of hearing the same music over and over again. Also guest on some routes get to hear the same music twice before they get off the bus. On the Animal kingdom routes from Port Orleans and Old Key West, as well as Saratoga Springs. the music starts out will Animal Kingdom music, as the bus leaves the last stop at the resort it changes to Blizzard Beach music, then as the bus leaves Blizzard beach it changes back to the Animal Kingdom track and starts over at the beginning of the track again. Disney Management has stated to us drivers they planned to have the music become random at some point, hopefully soon.

I can't speak for other drivers but I am very aware of the music and speil volumes and adjust for what I feel is a comfortable listening level (if the particular bus lets me). If the system is working correctly it's very easy to set the correct volumes. However, getting this system up and running 100% has been a challenge to say the least. Randomization has been promised but that is not the top priority now. The enviroment at WDW is so much different than a city transit system that there have been many "teething" problems that the designers have had to work around. It's just going to take some time to get it 100% reliable.

While we have the drivers on this thread, I'd love to ask you a quick question..I miss the spontonaity and the way the drivers talked all the way back to the resorts at night and just plain made the ride so much fun. When they train you now, do they say not to do that anymore?

Truth be told, Federal law prohibits the driver to interact with the passengers. So while entertaining bus drivers are a lot of fun, most people will side with the Feds in that they'd rather have the driver focusing on the driving and not the singing.

I was just on a bus sunday at WL, and the music was soooo nice and relaxing and fit in so well with the resort, I didn't realize it was new. I personally loved it!
