So I was perusing the new menus on Allears.net today, and I came across their new burger that has a hot dog on it!!! If done well, that could be awesome!!! I did a search, but only came up with one pic, and no reviews :( anybody tried this yet and can let me know how it is?? Tia!!

Are burgers on the menu for dinner at the Sci-Fi? I couldn't find it on the All Ears site.

There is now only an "all day" menu at Sci Fi. There are not separate lunch menus and dinner menus. What you see on the menu is there

I tried the picnic burger 3 weeks ago and the burger is big I had to eat it with a knife and fork! There are 2 hot dogs that they split down the middle and placed under the burger patty. I think there was sauerkraut and onions on there as well. Great burger just messy!

I have to wonder if the hot dog is all beef...

Ya know... I like burgers and I like hot dogs, but I don't know if I want them together on the same bun. I know I don't like it when somebody else decides what should go on my burger. I think Disney is still missing the boat by trying to turn good old comfort food into gourmet slop. I guess they need to justify a $15 burger by adding a few cents worth of disguise.

I don't think combining a hamburger and a hot dog qualifies as gourmet...

THe whole thing just looks and sounds disgusting to me. Might taste ok for a few bites, but I can't imagine the type of person who could finish a whole plate in a single meal.

I wasn't trying to insult anyone. Just trying to picture for myself and what I would allow my children to eat... A typical burger and bun is 500-600 calories, add 2 hot dogs -- that's at least another 300 calories, possibly more. It includes fries-- approximately another 300-400 calories or more. Even a large adult's diet should be 1900-2500 calories per day. So the idea of 1300+ calories in a single course at a single meal, it is really unappealing to me.

I use the term "gourmet" for anything beyond the plain comfort food I'm fond of. Often, it's with a touch of sarcasm. I'm a hopelessly boring eater and my wife reminds me of that quite frequently.

I'm not sure that Disney is the place to be concerned about calories. And if you are its going to be a challenge to not go hungry.

Lmao!! Thanks for all the replies! I hope to give it a try this next trip, cause I think it sounds awesome- thank goodness the last thing I'm counting at Disney is calories ;)

That's ridiculous. It's like saying that since I am on vacation, I should smoke a pack of cigarettes per day. Being on vacation shouldn't be a reason to throw the most basic common sense health into the garbage.

And how does an excess of calories make it a challenge to not go hungry?? Quite easy to "not go hungry" -- heck, my family of 4 could split the Sci Fi picnic burger, and we wouldn't go hungry! :) (2 hamburger halves, and 2 hot dogs-- plenty of food for 4 regular eaters)

Lol, Disney seems to really have gone in that direction this year with CS hot dogs. Disgusting ways to make them "special."

I really don't equate going off my diet with smoking a pack of cigarettes per day. I excercise, and I'm on Weight Watchers the majority of the year. But when I am on vacation - all bets are off! And then as soon as I am home, back on the waggon I go.

I really had no intention of starting a fight. I really am just talking about myself. In regards to actual long term health, eating that meal is indeed equivalent to smoking several cigarettes. Neither will kill you immediately, but both are actively hurting your body.
That said, I do sometimes indulge in an excessive meal, and on very rare occasions, I indulge in a cigar.
To each their own, but if I was going to have 1 or 2 ridiculously indulgent meals while on a week long vacation, personally, I wouldn't use 1 of those meals for the picnic burger and fries. But that's my personal choice.

A lot of restaurant entrees (and appetizers) contain far more calories than you would imagine. Even a salad, or a piece of meat with potatoes, could easily contain 1000+ calories because of all the hidden butter and oils.

So while I understand your point about the burger in particular (it clearly represents excess), you should know that whenever you go to a restaurant it isn't that unlikely that a single course contains 1000+ calories.

My point exactly. And Disney is not exactly focused on low cal meals. They are more interested in taste.
