hi my name is tracy and, if i may i would like to ask you all some questions. We are currently planning our 3 week stay for this august, 2 weeks off site then 1 week at USO, probably the portofino. My kids are 8 6 and 3, the eldest has ADD, and the middle one has very recently been diagnosed with aspergers. We are very concious that josh, at 6, will not queue as he dislikes people "pushing" him, even if there is no contact, and scott the eldest with add has very strict dietary requirements, he is on Fiengold sp? diet, do u have that in the states? So my questions are...
1. can anyone following the Feingold diet pm me appropriate food for while we are there? We have booked a few CM, are the restos flexible, CRT for brekkie and Chef Mickeys for dinner?
2. Anyone with kids with aspergers who have used the guest card, what can i expect with the card? I dont mind the queing...well no more than anyone else anyway  but know josh will not do it, if I queue, can josh fotl with his father?
3. anything you think i should know? often we learn stupid things while doing things and think, i wish i knew that, so please, tell me!!

We have been to WDW before, 2 years ago, so we are prepared for heat, humidity etc, and are spending a fortune to get FOTL at US, so any info you could give me about WDW would be REALLY useful, and thankyou, in advance,
tracy

Hello and welcome to disABILTIES! I can't answer your questions directly, but a few suggestions which might help.

One is to look through the list of threads in this forum, and the read some of the ones which refer to diets or ADD or Asperger. Also look at the "disABILTIES! FAQ" (which is currently the thirds item in the index), especially Item #6 which has to do with GAC.

Another is to get a copy of Passporter's Walt Disney World for your Special Needs which is available through many bookstores. I know it is available at Amazon.com and also www.passporter.com The book has specific chapters for AAD/ASD and also for dining and special menu requests.

Also, there is no real need to ask for advice by PM, most of the people here are willing to post information useful to anyone.

:guilty: sorry, didn t mean to offend, of course any info useful for me would be useful for others...
i have indeed done what you suggested and read through and there is osme very useful info but for the GAC what sort of info should you give?
that he is scared of crowds, can be violent if spooked, is a picky eater, how much info should i give and what will/can WDW do for this?
thanks tracy

We don't have exactly similar issues but one of my sons has a very bad peanut allergy and is a type 1 diabetic so we are used to watching his food carefully. When you make a sit-down meal reservation (ADR) be sure and tell them about the special diet for your son. If they are unsure what to list on the reservation you might want to call or email Brenda Bennett of Magic Kingdom Foods. She can be very helpful with special diets in all 4 parks.

Her phone number is 407-824-5967 and I found this on the board as her email address but I've not tried it: Brenda.Bennett@disney.com In general the chef will come out to your table and talk to you about what on the menu or buffett is safe or unsafe to eat (or appropriate). If the diet is such that you think the chefs will need to order or prepare food in advance then you certainly should contact them well ahead of time.

As for counter service, Brenda can help you with that too perhaps but you will be limited more by what is served and the way it is served. They won't be able to make as many changes to the food because it is fast food after all!

Have a great trip!

You need to call the restaurants a few days in advance and speak to the chef. They will probably not know what this diet is, you need to be able to specifically explain your needs...no additives, no artificial colors, etc. They should be able to accomodate you, with advance notice.

There is no FOTL. That's not what the GAC does. It will give an out of the way place to wait rather than in line, but it will not allow you to skip the line. Again, you need to be specific with guest services about your sons needs--a place to wait for the rides away from the line whereever possible. That's key, at some attractions there is no other place to wait.
