new blog: Festival of the Lion King reopens at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

So excited to be there next Sunday. TLK is my favorite Disney movie and this is my favorite theatrical show in the parks. The theme looks great, a definite improvement here!

Disney has hit a Home Run with this wonderfully themed new Theater!:)

What a great addition to Harambe!

I also think that it is so cool that Disney is immediately putting the Theater to "after hours" use with The Lion King Concert in the Wild!:)

So Cool!!! So if you have a FP+ for this is it a reserved area, or just early entry into the theatre? I've seen/heard both, but this made it sound like you were getting in earlier than standby and "picking" your seat?

No reserved seating for Fast Pass. You do get early entry into the theater once they open up fast pass line.

We went yesterday!
Got FastPass+
They let us in first so we got our choice of seats and then stand by was let in. Not everyone got in for that showing (2:00).
Nice theater. Just wish they would have put backs on the seats

For those who've tried FP+, how early do they let you in? 30 min prior to show? When does standby line enter?

I was there for the 9:30 AM show. They started at 9:30 to allow you to scan your bands. I think it was around 9:40 before they let us into the theater. It was 9:50 when they let the regular line into the theater.

The shows are on the hour so, Fp+ begins entering 30 minutes before showtime? A 20 minute window before Standby enters is similar to other shows with Fp+.

You don't actually enter the theater at 9:30 with a fastpass. You are held in a queue area for 10 mins or so.

So, a FP+ gives you a 30 minute wait? Sounds like a waste, especially if you go at slower times (like we do) when the shows don't "sell out." I'd rather stroll in 5 minutes before show time and get sub-prime seats than wait an extra 30 minutes for prime seats, but everyone is different.

Speaking of that...for those who have been, how is the theatre space compared to the old one? Bigger, nicer, or about the same?

I'm so happy to hear the show itself hasn't changed. If I recall correctly, there was some speculation that there were going to be changes that were unpopular.

YES! It's almost like a form of torture, if the show weren't so good!

so excited to see it, since it was closed during our trip in February! You can bet I'll be dragging the whole party to the show :)
