new blog: Disneyland Hotel Refurbishment – Part 3, Construction Completed

Oh no, other than the rooms themselves, I actually think it looks worse :( I hate modern decor though. So the lobby areas look awful. The pool looks cute, but I don't necessarily think it's better than the old one. The restaurants look good though and from the podcast team's reviews I can't wait to try them!

Thanks for the great blog and photos. I think I like the old entrance and lobby better. The new rooms are beautiful.

It's ok to want to have a modern look but then they look like every other hotel. At least with the Disney touches you know you are at Disney.

Yeah, that's what I mean. It looks nice, but I wouldn't know it was Disney really, just a fancy hotel. The rooms definitely look cool, I wonder if they are selling those old bed frame somewhere, they would make for a pretty cool kid's bed! I am definitely curious to check it out on our next trip...even if we can't afford to stay there!

The one thing I didn't show in my pictures is all the new art work around the property. There is a lot of Disney related prints and pictures in view in most of the hallways and corridors. The Disney touches just don't seem to appear in the furnishing as much as they used to. I agree that I like to see those items, especially when I'm staying on property.

As far as the main entry and lobby area, I completely agree. They really went the other direction with the Disney icons. In fact, you have to go all the way out to the street and look at the entryway sign to know that you are at the Disneyland Hotel. There has been a suggestion that new chandeliers are on the way; we'll see how they turn out.

On balance though, when you see this live I think you will be impressed even if your personal preferences (like mine) would take things in a different direction. The overall look is pretty dramatic and quite wonderful.
