New Beauty and the Beast trailer

I don't know, I think she looks pretty good in the role, it's Gaston that is just making me cringe in every trailer.

Totally agree about Gaston - although in this last trailer, he looks a little more "Gaston."

But, is it really that difficult to find an actor who looks/is built more like the character Gaston? Dwayne Johnson immediately comes to mind, but Moana. Or Steven Segal *in his prime* would have been great! (He wouldn't have even needed to act the part; it would have come naturally!) But I guess the actor needed to have some vocal talent too, right? Definitely disappointed in how they cast that role.

I don't know, "Feed the Birds" tends to hit me a little harder than most songs.

I also think the music in Hunchback tends to get overlooked a bit. "Out There" and "God Save The Outcasts" pack quite a punch.

I think there are a few movies from the post-Lion King era that are a bit underappreciated

Hunchback has great music (and made for a good stage production)

I think Hercules is a fun movie - definitely a different style

Tarzan isn't the best, but I do like "You'll be in my heart" (though might just be I like Phil Collins)

Yeah...but feed the birds has gotten disney geek mythical status because of the stories Bob Sherman told about it with Disney over the years...so I'm not sure how it really ranks.

I'll say this: Mary poppins is the greatest movie disney has ever made and it's not close.

Plus it's known to have been Walt's favorite song so that pushes it up in people's mind too I bet

Yeah, it's not easy. Part of it is the size, the other part of it is the voice. I'm just having such a tough time with it. I'm far from knowing my actors (I'm not a huge movie guy), but maybe the guy who plays Thor would work at least for size. It's not just the size, it's the height for me too. Others will know much more than me, I just can't get over it (not that it will stop me from seeing the movie nor will I call it bad just because of that, I still really am interested).

I would agree with that as well except for the last sentence.

Lion King is in my top 5 of Disney movies. It is so hard for me to choose just 1 so I have a top 5. I grew up on that movie.

My daughter was just in her middle school production of the Lion King (Jr.) and it's been non-stop Lion King for 3 months and watched the show 3 times over the weekend - and I am still humming the songs sitting here. I really love that movie/music. B&tB has great music and I love Ashman/Menken in their limited work for Disney before Howard/Ashman passed, but I am not a huge fan of that particular song - though Angela Landsbury totally nails it.

I couldn't agree more. Evryone thinks Lion King is the best, while there are other movies with better soundtracks.

Tarzan is definitely not my favorite. Probably my least favorite movie, but "You'll be in my heart" is an amazing song.

IMO Princess and the Frog has one of the best Disney movie soundtracks.

Tarzan is the best movie made from 1995-2010...Pixar excluded, of course

The last trailer for Beauty and the Beast is here

My eyes watered up a bit. I can't wait

OMG! I love it! Can't wait. Chills.

EDIT: I love Celine & Peabo, so wasn't sure about this. This is special too for different reasons. I'll see this with DH & DD vs family when younger and in school. And have numerous trips with family & movie nights, Disney premiers through the years. Love John Legend.

Angela lansbury's beauty and the beast and "I see the light" from Tangled are the two greatest songs in disney history...because they were integrated so well with the visual.

When you wish upon a star gets an honorable mention too ;)

Okay, I love both of these...and I know I'm going to get giant eye rolls from everyone, but if I go back to before the song was way overplayed and the Frozen fever happened, Let it Go was really integrated with the visual and watching it in the theater and seeing her create the ice castle while the music played got me teary :duck:...so did the scene in Moana, I've only seen it once so I forget the exact song, when it shows the ancestors on the boats and the one when with the stingray/grandmother as Moana is discovering herself...I actually think one of the things that makes Disney movies pull on your emotions differently than other animated films is the musical score and the way they integrate it with the film.

Frozen doesn't happen without tangled plowing the road...and it's a better movie than frozen.

I like Olaf as much as the next guy...but frozen's Story is kinda "bleh"...not that any of the Disney movies are "deep"...and the songs aren't that impressive.

What does "let it go" mean anyway? It's kinda silly, no? Maybe not the message...but the words themselves...frozen fractals all around?

The cold never bothered me anyway?

I said beauty and the beast because the ballroom scene was the pinnacle of the Renaissance (the animators claim part of your world was more important)...and I see the light got them back after 15 years of bad/diminished product to what they could do...

Just my take.

do you mean "We know the way"? It's my favorite from the movie

The shows on the channel change too, though. I mean, Handy Manny is still at Play & Dine and he hasn't been on morning programming in 6 years. And the 4 shows with the puppets have evolved - Mickey now is Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Doc McStuffins now "works" at a toy hospital, not her backyard, Sophia has a pink amulet and does something with a hidden library, and Jake is now Captain Jake.

It's all outdated.

and at least amongst my kids circle of friends I'd say PJ Masks is more popular than any of them ... and Elana of Avalor

Pj masks has the most amount of merchandise in the stores during the holiday season...I'd say elana is second.

That's the best indicator

Yes! That one and also this one:

we saw the sing-along version of Moana over the weekend and I was a little disapointed they only put the words on the screen when it was English being sung - I love the beginning of "We know the way" when they are speaking the native language

I love both of the ones you quoted as well - the scene when they sing I See the Light is one of my favorites from any Disney movie and I agree Tangled brought Disney back. Maybe there is something that I connect with from Elsa in the sense that during that song she is finally able to just be her without trying to live up to the expectations everyone else has of her...I think a lot of women can probably relate to that...a time of "finding your voice."
