I sent an email to guest services about the sept park hours, the closing of the stunt show, and the character issue and got the following response:

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. As our
guest, your comments are very important.

In regards to the park hours, the hours change seasonally. During the time
of your visit all area theme parks have a low attendance and our guests are
able to fully experience each park during the operating hours. The Wild Wild
Wild West Stunt show closed permanently in order to make room for a new
attraction. Universal Orlando is always looking to improve the quality of
our guests' experience. Please be assured that your comments will be shared
with proper management for their review.

I wonder if guest services let the cat out of the bag too soon?!? (which leads to another question, why four new attractions at UO and nothing at IOA?)

Man you lucky dog. You actually got a response. I wrote to them and got nothing. Wow so finally we at least get some type of response. So they actually do have plans on what will replace that area. I still find it very odd how they gave the public such little notice about shutting down the attraction. I wonder what will go there.

USF needed this make over, so I think it's fair that they put focus here for a couple years rather than IOA. IOA will get their improvements and rides after USF is done with the make-over in 2004. It'll most likely be another show, but this was a long overdue addition. USF has been trying to spice the park up over the last few years and the immediate area around WWSS was definitely a dead area. I hope they take this oppurtunity to spruce things up in this area and open a nice stunt show, perhaps the long rumored Rush Hour. This was a change that was coming sooner or later and I'm surprised it took so long actually with all the show renovations taking place prior to this announcement.

First of all, I completely agree. Islands of Adventure is still fairly new and they should wait a few years to add anything. On the other hand, Universal has been around for quite a bit longer than IOA and really needs to update in order to compete with other Orlando parks. Sure you can say, "They could have just added 1 or 2 things and then something at IOA" but really, Universal needed a major facelift...I didn't like Universal too much a while back and they kept adding things and it's now my favorite park...beating even IOA.

IOA will have it's turn...but it's still an infant amusement park. Still has plenty of time to grow :)

Secondly, Rush Hour?? You said this was mentioned a long time ago? That would be awesome!!!!! Never heard that before (but have only been a US/IOA fanatic since 2002). :) Love the idea though!

I think Universal will definitely put a great show in it's place. It just takes time. Everyone just needs to stay positive and give honest feedback. I truly think they care what we all think..

Most definitely Spidey! They know what they are doing. I don't think they'd risk losing visitors for no reason...

Herc & Xena still has not been replaced.
Dynamite Stuntacular still has not been replaced.
Gory Gruesome is always fearful of being next to go.
Sinbad is seasonal.
Whatever it is at the "arena" in Toon Island is Temporary.
And now WWWSS will be gone.
Can you see a theme here?
Anything that relies on a human performance is either gone or is talked about being gone.
It is all cost cutting at it's worst.
The human element is what was so attractive about Universal years ago.
If they keep this up, anything that has a human performance will be axed.

Is that the Horror Makeup Show? If so, they have completely changed the show from what it used to be years ago. And they wouldn't get rid of it anytime soon because it is one of Universal's most popular shows. :) I'd be surprised if they did, anyway...

but I'm not too surprised about WWWWSS...not sure why...just not...

You're right that Make-Up will most likely be around for a very long time. It's cheap and popular.

As for West- they are NOT replacing it with anything. By that, I mean any show in particular. It will become a Universal Studios Amphitheatre ala the old Toon Circus theatre at IOA... meaning it will sit empty 9+ months of the year.

So it'll basically be used for special events, like what the Herc & Xena is doing now.

I say turn Herc & Xena into a big shop. But not just any shop, a discount shop. A place to find any old Universal merchandise that is collecting dust.

Just my idea.

Or put bumper cars in there!

The Wild, Wild, West venue will be dismantled and a new ampatheater will be put in its place for special events only as of right now.

Personally, I'd like to see them replace WWWSS with an indoor attraction that is a boat ride through many different countries and continents, featuring child-like dolls dressed in native costumes and singing a cheerful tune over and over and over........

Just kidding :p

Guess I'm getting a little slap happy, considering my next trip to UO is only 22 days away!!!

The horror.......oh the HORROR!!!

A new amphitheatre doesn't make a lot of sense there, especially for "special events". What, it'll be used 3-4 nights a year?
At least WWWWest Show had a full stadium daily (or so it seemed).
Go ahead and make the stadium a queue line for a soon-to-be-announced "non-cookie cutter" ride.

It would be a year at least before the west theater would be dismantled Vevendi has other things to deal with right now.
