New Appliances Advice Needed

Long story short I need to buy a new fridge and stove for my house. The house is going on the market shortly. I really need to try and stay budget friendly without being cheap.

1. What is a good brand in your mind and what would be a bad brand when it comes to appliances?

2. We have propane and electric hookup. It has been my understanding propane is a big, is this true? I looked at dual fuel stoves and they were way more expensive then just propane, like $1000 more on the few Kitchenaids I looked at. So is just propane OK do you think?

3. Stainless steel seems to be the thing in mid range kitchens. We have a white dishwasher. Do I just go ahead and get stainless steel for those other two appliances?

4. Any advice on where to shop for the fridge & stove? I have been looking on craigslist for a stove but nothing locally. I was also going to start wandering through the various appliance stores when I can looking for floor models.

Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

We just moved into a new house and bought a new stainless steel fridge at Lowes. It was a Whirlpool that is normally 1700.00. It was on sale and then an additional percent off. That brought it down to 1000.00. They went to ring it up and found they were out of stock. We really needed it. We were using a cooler. (Moved from out of state) They ended up offering us the show model and knocked even more off. By the time we were done, my 1700 fridge was down to 889.00! Plus they were able to deliver it the very next morning. Amazing deal!

Do your homework. These days the brand on the front may not be the company that made it. If the house is going on the market soon, new is going to be more important that brand name.
