New AP w/Photopass question

Hi folks,

So, no one may have had first-hand experience with this yet, but I figured I'd ask:

Now that photopass is included on certain levels of annual passes, how does it work?

In other words, if only one person in our group has an AP, but we're all linked as family/friends on MDX, can the person with the AP download our photos as part of that perk?

I'm not sure which thread had this response, but one person so far reported that they COULD get free downloads for those in their family and friends in MDE regardless of using their own magicband, not the AP Platinum holders magicband. Hopefully we will hear more responses that are the same. I need to make a decision in a few weeks whether I will upgrade one of our APs or buy MM and would feel much better if numerous guests report success with this scenario.

Not sure I am following if you are asking about how it's working for folks on the new Annual Passes or if you are asking if it works with your "existing" Annual Pass....

Just in case, "existing" AP holders have to upgrade to the new APs to get photopass.

Hopefully someone that has a new AP can chime in and tell you how it worked for them.

I just upgraded my AP to the platinum AP. The others in my group still have the old APs. I am able to see, edit and download all pictures that are linked to our account as friends and family. For example, I didn't ride Rockin Rollercoaster, yet the ride photo for my kids shows up available to download. It was totally worth it to do just one upgrade for this perk

Thank you for reporting back. That is exactly opposite of what a CM told me would happen. (Surprise, surprise!)

If everyone is linked through family and friends and allow sharing of everything. Everyone can see everyone else's photos. This means that the person with the new AP can see everyone's photos and download all of them (including the one that the new AP is not in). The others, with the old AP, will still see everyone else's photos but will not have the option to download the photos. If they click to download it'll ask them if they want to download memory maker.

I upgraded my AP (just mine not my whole family) and I can see and download all of the pics for my family even if I didn't ride. All of my family are in my MDE account. We just went last week so it's current info : )

It should work as long as everyone's linked accordingly. If you have any doubts after CM photos, just have the AP scan their band as well after the kids do. But as long as everyone's linked, all photos should come up under new AP's account for download.

Just got back and here is my experience. I had a premium AP voucher which they activated as the new platinum plus pass. Both of my daughters had seven day park hopper passes. Anytime they scanned their magic bands all photos showed up under my photo pass under MDE. Some places like seven dwarfs mine train didn't even have a place to scan they just automatically showed up in my photos. Anytime we had a photo pass photographer take a picture they scanned my Magic band and everything appeared as normal.

What everybody else said, BUT if you are using the MDE app, you can only see the photos that your band was scanned, no one elses (like I could only see the photos where I scanned my band, not my sons). However, ALL pictures showed up on the desktop and I was able to download them all (and edit and everything). Also, got all magic shots and animated magic shots and videos.

(I think maybe some of the initial confusion came from people not being able to see the photos taken using other peoples bands on the app).

That wasn't my experience - the ride photos scanned by others ie. Buzz and the photos from SDMT showed up on my phone in the app. I can't vouch for photos by photographers scanned to another wrist band though.

Same for me as well. All showed up in the app.

Good to know. I wasn't NOT on any rides that would've had pictures linked so I don't know. But I'd read about the "other peoples photos" not showing up on the app before my trip, and it was my experience, so I was glad I'd heard about it and could avoid freaking out about it.

There's a filter on the Photopass section of MDE under "Family & Friends" - you can either "View All" or "Only Mine." "Only Mine" was the default setting on my iPhone. Maybe that caused some confusion.
