New AP perk - Disney Dining Experience

Ordered my card yesterday and just got my e-mail! :wizard:

Good news - got back from lunch and my confirmation was waiting for me! I'm all set!

Finally got my confirmation letter! Thanks for the great advice and everyone enjoy your trips! :)

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Is anyone else having problems with their confirmation letter? I got a message that they sent my confirmation letter, but when I open the attachment, nothing is there. The girl sending it has tried twice now and it still isn't coming through. Maybe i'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Cindy

The confirmation letter is in a .rtf format. It opened for me using WordPad, but I'm running Win 98SE Perhaps the attachment is a file type your computer does not recognize?

It could be your virus protection too. Often mine won't allow attachments to open.

I'm not sure what the problem was, but the person sending it to me sent it as a regular e-mail and that worked. :D

Does anyone know if you have to mention that you have DDE card when you make your PS's? Or, do you just show your card when you get the restaurant?

Thanks

A FL resident posted on another thread to show them to your server when they come to take our order, so they know they need to discount it in the system.

Just called and made our resort reservations for WL in May. I asked the cm about the DDE, and she knew nothing about it. She even called guest services, who also said they knew nothing. I then asked if I should call the dining line, she said "yes try that". Then I said "or maybe the annual passholder line" She then said "YOU GUYS HAVE YOUR OWN LINE?" GRRRR!!!!! Who did you guys talk to when you ordered yours? I can't get onto the web site, did you call dining, or should I just call back and speak to another cm?

Hi Kirstin's Mommy

If you're trying to order the DDE card, you need to call 407-566-5858 (M-F 9-5 EST). Option "3", will connect you to a CM who can help you. Be aware that the lines have been very busy the last couple of days. Many people have reported hold times of up to an hour :earseek:

There is a special DDE number. 407-566-5858 option 3 - Note: the automated system may still say this is a FL resident perk only. Ignore that. Also note that DDE has a very small staff, so your wait time may be lengthy. Be patient, some have reported up to 1 hour waits in the morning, less in the afternoon. Remember the CMs are getting to you as fast as possible.

Okay. So I just read through all nine pages and I am confused.

I am an AP holder. So is my husband. So I can call tomorrow and pay $50 to join the DDE. Being a member of the DDE will get me 20% the total bill at the listed places as long as the party size is 10 or under? If my understanding is correct then this is a great deal. Would someone be kind enough to either confirm or correct my understanding?

That's how I understand it too, but I'm not definite either. I'm still worried it won't work for me because technically my AP is 2004 - it expires in June. So I'm wondering if this deal will not be available to me unless I renew in June. Anyone sure about this?

This sounds sooo fabulous. I will be ordering one before our trip in April. However, I am reading between the lines and I am understanding a few things:
* you can order the DDE card without actually having an AP for $50 or a FAP for $60?, just saying that you will be getting one when you arrive seems to be enough
* you do not need to show your AP or FAP when you use the DDE card

So, here's my question - What's to stop people w/o APs from ordering and using this DDE card? You know that there are people around who will fanagle their way around this perk that should be just for us AP holders. What do you think?

I think the CM server is suppose to see your AP when you present the card for the discount.
They are suppose to have been doing it all along with FL residents when the FL guest presented the DDE card. (Look at the guest's FL driver license.)
More often than not, they don't ask. But if they did ask and the guest could not prove it, I imagine they would not provide the discount.

I am just reading this now... I feel like a fool just posting saying that a $50 price for an AP holder didn't sound right... I guess it is true..but to comment on your post... they will not give it if you do not have proof. Last June I was at the food court in PO-riverside. We went thru the check out, showed my card & ID, no problems. A few minutes later, my daughter (a minor, not an adult) decided she wanted to get something else so I sent her to get it with my card and ID. They wouldn't give it to her! She was just there with me...they weren't cowded, they saw me... and they still wouldn't do it.. she wasn't the "card holder".... so yes, some CM's do follow the rule to the "T"

Now I have a silly question. If you purchase the card for the first time with the AP, you will get it for $50, so what is stopping people who have it when the renewal time comes...don't renew for $60...wait a month... then purchase for $50??? Also brings me to the next question... is it anyone with an AP or every one "other than" FL residents?

Right on the new passholder sleeve for 2005 it says "AN IMPORTANT NOTE: To enjoy any of the 2005 benefits listed in this pass sleeve, you must present your valid Pass at the time of purchase, booking, and/or redemption of any offer."

So 1.) the Disney Dining Experience CM's SHOULD be asking for passholder numbers (or have a list) or Florida address when selling the card.
2.) the restaurant CM's SHOULD be asking for a VALID AP or Florida DL when giving the discount and
3.) that means if your AP is up in June (example) and you are not renewing it, you should only be able to use the DDE till June as well.
