New AP discounts starting Febr 6th, 2014 - limited time

I just called to DVC to see if I can upgrade my AP (that I bought last week and not activated) to a PAP. She said I can do so at a Guest Services window after Feb. 6. Hope this saves someone the 15 min wait on hold with DVC.

I wonder why the WDW AP discount is on the Premium pass, with no blackout dates, while the DLR AP discount is on a pass with blackout dates?

At WDW, the only annual passes with blackout dates are for FL Residents only.

Ticketing for WDW & DL are handled by the respective parks. Apparently, DL didn't want to offer better pricing on the Premium AP.

I was hoping for the $ 399 deal for the standard AP for my three planned trips in 2014. I have to consider paying the extra $ 20 for the Premium Pass. Since I can only go on 3 FP rides per day, I now have all this extra time to go to the water parks and DisneyQuest. :lmao: (sarcasm) so the PAP makes sense.

At first, I wasn't crazy about it. I think I will get the pass. My kids do love DisneyQuest. We are going around Thanksgiving so I don't know if we can go to the waterparks.

Well, the pricing isn't as great as I'd hoped it would be. If it would have been closer to last years $399 price then I would have jumped all over 4 new passes and saved some of my non-expiring ones.

I was planning to enter in March on our next trip on park hopper tickets that I had bought a good while ago from UCT, but have never been used. We usually then upgrade to a DVC AP (with the bridging process). It seems as though with the last promo DVC PAP, I was able to do this and get the $399 rate.

Will I be able to enter on the UCT tickets and then upgrade at Guest Relations to the DVC PAP with this new promotion??

Oddly enough, our PAPs expired Jan 5 meaning we have until Feb 5 to renew. These things start selling Feb 6......I hope the new deal is worth waiting for.

Please note that the grace period for renewing your annual pass is only 30 days. Since there are 31 days in January, I believe your renewal deadline is February 4 and not the 5th. You should call MS to check to be safe. I had problems with this issue when we renewed our passes last year.

It has to be activated by Jan 30, 2015.

That's a bummer. Not sure when we're going to get to go in 2015 so can't bite on the PAP if they have to be activated that soon and even tho we're planning a trip to DL this summer we're only going for 3 days so the bi-coastal pass is still WAAY too expensive to get the money out of it. These don't seem like THAT good of deal unless you're planning to go soon. I was hoping they'd also offer a deal on reg. park hopper passes for both parks along with the AP discounts.

Wish I could commit the funds to do this... Planning on about 4 WDW and 4 DLR trips this coming year (2 or 3 nights each trip)... However, current PAP expires in August and was planning on renewal in August and then upgrade to Premier in December at DL... Spreads out my cash... So, unless this or a similar deal was extended, it would work for me then... Not now...

I've had a DL Deluxe AP this past year and the blockout dates don't impact me... Pass is worth more for me as DL Premium gives high food and merch discount and free parking... That's only difference...

We have APs that run out in August. We are going in May this year, does anyone know if I can upgrade my current AP to the new discounted PAP as an add-on and pay the $20 difference?

Most likely but if you upgrade it will expire in August...

This was the subject of a lot of posting last time and... some people claim the response was 'no' but I was able to do it.. That said it does not update the expiration date so it is only a good deal if in May you were planning to do a WP or something else.

Yes we are doing water parks this year. We don't usually but we are taking my adult niece and her family for 2 weeks. They will have the UK 14 day pass that includes Water Parks and DQ. We were intending to pay on the gate for a couple of visits to water parks so, if we can do this, it would be fantastic value. We won't take advantage of the renewal as we probably won't be heading back to WDW until 2016. We try to get two vacations out of 1 AP/PAP so 5 or 6 weeks of Disney depending on how many weeks we can get away for!!!:thumbsup2

We are heading down February.2-5 with the intent of upgrading to AP. I'm hoping I can upgrade to AP then try to upgrade again on the 6th for the Premium passes . Fingers crossed!

We live across the river from you in Agawam!

The difficulty last time was the PAP offers was lower than the price of the Deluxe DVC AP. I would expect upgrades will be allowed for the difference in price as is normal.

But somewhat related. We currently have the PAPs from the $399 deal last year [or 2 years ago] that expire in October. Before that promotion, we had the standard [non-premium] APs which we renewed annually. Can I get the DVC renewal rate for the regular AP when our PAPs expire or can I only renew for what I currently have? I think I read on one of the ticket stickies that you can "downgrade" on renewals, but with all of the moving parts here and the resident experts on this board, thought I would ask the question directly!
Thanks!

Yes, we just "downgraded" from our $399 PAP to a $395(roughly) AP two days ago.

I had the $399 PAP deal and renewed with a downgrade to the AP. I got the AP renewal rate. Just be careful that you triple check they are doing the AP and not the PAP. I had the price in my head and knew she did the wrong thing when the renewal rate was higher than expected.

Long story short...yes you can downgrade and get still get the renewal rate. :goodvibes

More pricing information on the difference in cost of the renewal AP to the renewal PAP.

According to the fellow who just renewed our passes, the price differential is identical to the cost of a Water Park annual pass. He passed that on to us in case we wanted to upgrade in 3 or 4 months to the PAP. It would make more sense at that point to buy the Water Park annual pass as it is good for one year from the purchase date, whereas the upgrade to the PAP would end on the anniversary date of the renewal of the AP.
