I called WDW today to ask some questions about purchasing our AP (our first AP  ) The CM, told me the basics...that we could call and purchase our AP and book the rooms at the AP rate approx. 3 months before our vacation (if the AP rates were available).

OK...HERE is my question to anyone that may know (as I forgot to ask the CM): Can we purchase the AP and book a AAA rate NOW and if AP rates are released, call and re-book with the AP certificates (not an acutal AP) as we will not have gone yet?

I apologize for the slightly convoluted question, but I'm sure ONE of ya'll has to know what the heck I'm talking about, right?! :thumbsup2

TIA!

You can book the AAA rate now (if available) and switch to AP rate if it comes available for your room type, or something similar that would suit you.

You do not need an AP now to book an AP rate. But you have to have the valid AP in hand when you check in to that AP-rate room.

Keep in mind that booking AAA through Disney will be a room only res.
If you are wanting dining (MYW package) then you will need to book through AAA. And if you book through them, or any TA, they own the res and will need to make any changes for you.
