Greetings from the Walton family in Clifton Forge, VA. I am in the beginning stages of planning our first trip to WDW. I'm really enjoying reading the posts from other members and I've already learned lots of helpful information.

The first thing I'm trying to make a definite decision on is when to go. By the way, traveling party will be myself, DH, DD 12, DD 11 and DD 9. (look what i learned already.) :)

Here are the choices and I would appreciate any feedback......

June 20-July 1, 2006...... 10 nights and 10 day play pass

or

i'm considering pulling the kids out of school and going in February but it will cut the trip to 6 or 7 days.

I guess my question is can we do the same amount in 7 days in Feb. as 10 days in June....

We will be able to enjoy the water rides and resort pools in Feb?

Thanks in advance........

Lesa

First of all welcome.

I would believe that you should be able to do everything in 7 days in Feb. as to 10 in June. The biggest difference is the temp. and crowds. Temps are usually in the low 70's. We go in Oct. when the temps are in the upper 70's and the water parks have been opened each year we have gone. The other advantage to Feb over June is that Feb is value season, so if should cost you less.

Hope this helps.

And Welcome to the board.

Welcome :cool1:
Feb can be very tricky...could be cool could be warm. park hours are generally a little shorter, and the President's week is a HUGE northeast school vacation time. I know for some people it might be too cool to swim...but for a New Englander...it's not. Also check out the renovation schedule...I have found that Feb usually has one or two closings. On the down side June-July you have to watch the heat/sun...a friend was at WDW last July 4 th weekend, and he said it was absoultly crazy. I think I would go for the 10 in June-July...this way you always had extra time to do it all.

Depends if heat is a problem, and higher crowds. I have been to DW when it was very hot (aug and june) prefer early dec over hot and crowded summer months, but have never been in feb.

First off......WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!!! Glad your here and hope you can find all the info and help you need. May I suggest going when the temp. is not so hot. Feb would be much better than July for that fact alone not to mention the crowd difference. We have been in heat and cool and now we will never go during the heat of summer again. Have fun planning and have a great trip. :wave2:

Welcome to the DIS! I have never been there in Feb., but I know the hours would be shorter than in June, but the lines will also be shorter which should compensate for that. I do think that if you go during off season, a little more planning is needed because some parades and events are only on certain days rather than every day or even twice a day during prime season.

My family and I are planning our first trip to WDW. We are a little confused. How do we start planning. We want to go next year. Feb. sounds like a good time to go. We have 2 adults and two children 10 and 3. We have started a savings account for our trip. We have enough miles on our FF to fly. Is there a way to book a package and make payments or do you just make one lump sum when you book? :confused3
