New and confused about my points

Due to the loss of my boyfriend I have had to cancel my upcoming trip on the 19th september. I had booked 346 of points so 180from 2011 and the rest from the 2012. I have cancelled within the 30days so now my account is showing as 360 availible but 126in holding these figures dont add up.
I have decided to book a trip in april 2013 which comes to 210 points. Will those holding points be used towards that booking as my use year is June?
I wanted to sell the 2011 points to davids rentals but obviously if they are in holding I dont know if its possible.
A friend of mine is having the 2013 points from me.
I just need to let davids rentals know how many points I have to rent out of the 2011 lot and if in holding is still possible.

I do not how you could get holding points if you cancelled more than 30 days out unless they were already holding points when the original reservation was made. Moreover, even when you fail to timely cancel, all the points for the trip not just part of them go into holding. Thus, you will have to call MS to determine and resolve the issue.

Normally, if you cancelled within 30 days, all the points used for that reservation would be holding points. You would not be able to use those holdind points to book an April 2012 reservation until 60 days from your desired check-in date, sometime in February 2013.

If you cancelled at least 31 days prior, the points used for that resevation would have returned to normal status within the current use year. The banked points would still need to be used by the end of the use year.

Now, if I read your your post correctly, I am assuming your boyfriend has unexpectedly passed away. My sympathy goes out to you, I also have had someone pass away unexpectedly the night before we were supposed to check-in. In such emergency situations, Member Services has been known to work with the member to restore as many points as possible to the current use year. The fly in the ointment may be the banked points.
