new alamo site is awefule! wont take any code?!

I have tried a bunch! of valid coupon codes and keep one or both or these messages:

We're sorry. This coupon isn't available at this time.

what gives? anyone else having this happen? I am a pro at doing codes, but this is my first time using the site since they changed it... what is going on??? There is no way that not one of these codes work.

contacted Alamo via email... I told them no codes are working, they wanted examples. I gave them some, one was 10.00 weekend that I got as an INSIDER and they won't work saying "Capacity check - Coupon is not available" and I got back this response

"In regards to this offer,I have found the same offer online under "Deals" which will fill up fast. I also checked the location, they have met the capacity for this offer.This is why you can not use this offer. I apologize for the inconvenience."

Umm duh!! I knew that it was full!! the question is what darn coupon isn't??!! I am not liking Alamo right now!!! So much for using them 16+ times and being loyal!

More than likely the code is blacked out for the time period you need to rent. If your rental does not include a Saturday a coupon will not work. when are you going?

It is "full to capacity" Mar 21-24 so is a Saturday in there.

They only allow so many rentals with the coupons. You are traveling at a VERY busy time, so, that is why you cannot use the coupon. It is a combo of Spring Break and Palm Sunday/Easter time. Also, the coupons I have found for this time have a "kill date" of 3/23/2013 and that might be what is kicking it out.

They are going to be very busy, so, not surprising it is sold out. I just did a reservation for 3/22 (midnight) to 3/25 (at 7:30) and I was able to reserve a car. Just for fun, try clearing your temp. files and cookies.

Chances are with your dates, NO coupons will be accepted. Did you specifically ask which ones were available? You do realize the agents don't have access to that information, right? There are a lot of loyal members who have used them way more than 16x's that cannot use their coupons. It happens and we just understand. Spring break, Easter/Palm Sunday is a zoo for rental companies.

I've experienced so many "error" codes that I rented elsewhere. A week ago, my BJ's code was rejected and this morning I received "internal error" message. Nothing worked. They might have been updating the website, but just put that on the home page rather than having customers key in all information.

I notice when you choose dates and locations and try to edit things, the price always stays the same. You constantly need to clear cookies and go back into the site to get an adjustment. We are trying for mid April and even when the site works, the rates are almost double Dollar/Thrifty. Last year (for the exact same dates) our rate was $147. This year it is $340. That's quite a difference.

I hope things work out because we were always Alamo customers, but this has been an aggravating experience.

Just as airlines have a finite number of seats on each plane, car rental companies have a finite number of cars at each location. The weekend of March 23-24 is the beginning of one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. It's the week leading up to Easter, and this year it overlaps with one of the busiest spring break weeks.

The car rental companies can shift cars between locations to some extent, but they can't have an unlimited number of cars of all car classes at all locations at peak times. And, as with hotel rooms and airline tickets, their pricing can reflect the high demand for the finite capacity.

At this late date, I would just try to get a car, even if it doesn't involve using a coupon.

HATE their new site. I think they will lose business - they've lost mine. Most of the time, once I've entered a code it won't let me change it and try a different code. Plus I've always been the 'go to' person in my extended family for making their rental reservations - all I needed was their Insider number. Insider number would let me make their reservations without using their password and having access to their personal info. Now I can't do it anymore since it requires their password too.

Its kinda like the airlines; they're only going to give out so many cars at a discounted rate. They have the right to do any kind of blackout, and it looks like they have. You're dealing with Easter week, so you might be out of luck with the discounts.

I definitely would book with someone else if you're not getting anywhere, but keep checking...although it sounds like you're only a couple of days away at this point.
