I have been waiting to purchase DVC since my honeymoon in 1997.....long wait!

We are financially able to do it and just purchased AKV:cool1::thumbsup2!!! I am SOOOO excited!. We were able to get BCV for this summer in July and I am already planning my next trip to AKV in Feb. 2012! I am just so excited that my dream finally came true!

I am hoping to meet other members on here for some great tips and DVC secrets:)

Congratulations, with the long wait since your honeymoon I am sure this is even more special. Glad you were able to get Beach Club for this summer. You will enjoy it.

Thank you! I fell in love on our honeymoon, but DH needed some persuading (and 2 kids later) to decide it would be a good idea for the future. Good things come to those who wait!

I have stayed at BC in 2003 without children, so we are looking forward to hot summer days in the pool with our sons who are 6 and 4. This is our first Villa stay so I am looking forward to seeing what I have been missing all these years! I am so excited, I cannot wait!

Welcome home! Since you have the advantage of being an AKV owner, be sure to work to get one of the concierge rooms and do the sunrise safari. It is so worth it!

Thank you! Thanks for the concierge tip...we have never stayed club level so I really don't know much about it. Is the safari extra to do???? I would love it as I am a huge animal lover:love:

What do you prefer at AKV???The Jambo House or Kidani Village????I have only stayed in the lodge while they were building Kidani (My son was 2 1/2 at the time and loved the construction trucks as well as the animals). I loved the lodge and how everything was right there. Just wondering if Kidani feels the same, is convenient and if the savanna is better for viewing?

For studios, I prefer Jambo, for they have 2 sinks in the dressing area, and the set up is different in Kidani, with the sink in the bathroom. For larger villas, so far, I've had value 1 bedrooms, which are only in Jambo, and a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom in Kidani and those villas are fabulous, very spacious and they both have the extra full bath off the living room. Because you can get lower in the building villas in Kidani, many say the savannah views are better there.

I've encountered excellent CM's in both buildings. I don't know how old your son is now, but Kidani's pool has more water activities than Jambo's does.

Jambo's health and fitness center has a sauna and I think a steam room, and my DSis likes those amenities.

I have loved all of our AKV stays!

Just wanted to say Congratulations and Welcome Home!!!!!! Enjoy all the planning.

Congrats on talking him into it! We also own @ AKV. We too have only stayed at Jambo House but are heading to Kidani Vlg for the 1st time in a few months for a stay in the 3BR GV. I hear in these threads that there is no quick food service but it has a better pool also that it is much bigger (longer walks to rooms) than Jambo house. Have a great time! I am sure you will make many memories in the years to come on your trips.

Great choice with AKV, I love the different choice of rooms... and the giraffes. Welcome home neighbour! :goodvibes

Congrats! :)

Funny, we did the same thing as AKV owners... stayed at BCV first and have Kidani booked for our upcoming trip in April. During our trip last year, we were able visit Kidani and an amazing CM took us on a tour and showed us a 2 BR villa. Wow, it blew us away! I must say that we love BCV for proximity to Epcot and SAB, but I think we will love Kidani just as much (if not more!) for the exotic theming, newer rooms, 3 awesome restaurants, abundance of activities and wonderful pool area. Can't wait to stay there! :woohoo:

We already had a vacation booked at Beach Club in July while our extended family members who are DVC owners will be at SSR. I have stayed at BC before and honestly in the heat of the summer, I can't imagine going to any other pool. So we were lucky to be able to get into a 1BR villa for the same time as we were booked at the hotel.

I have been at AKL in 2007 and fell in love too. At the time they were building the villas and I told my husband "That is where I want to buy into" because I love animals and wildlife:love:. The resort is truly amazing and I could stay there an entire week just watching the animals. So I want to see the new villas for my next trip! Plus my youngest was 11 months when we stayed there so it will be a whole new experience for him! I am so excited!!! Enjoy your stay too!
