Hey... has anyone heard if the new free "to your resort" transportation from the airport perk will be permitted for those of us with a DVC reservation? My friend and travel agent says that it appears you can apply for this as long as you have a reservation # for a Disney Resort? Just wondering if we migh be in on this one.
Heres Hoping!!!!

Yes, it does apply to DVC members, it's called Magical Express and it starts 5/5 to coincinde with the Happiest Celebration. It is only certain airlines however, that participate. You will need to arrange this 3 weeks prior to your departure. It is the Mears shuttle that will take you to your resort. I will be testing it out for my Nov trip.

From what I understand, ANYONE flying in on ANY airline can use the transportation, but only certain airlines can use the bag transfer service.

Just spoke with my friend whose a travel agent. She says that it doesn't apply to only certain arilines.... She says that certain perks like checking your luggage on your return trip from your resort come only with certain major airlines.... but that the free trasnportation is for any airline..... as long as you are staying on
Disney Property. I am so excited that it applies to DVC reservations!!!!! WOW!!!
We are bringing our large family of 28 people next year!!!!! That will save us atleast $400

YEAH!!! :Pinkbounc

We're going in November and I can't wait to hear how the service is working beforehand! I've also read somewhere that the service will be complementary for 12-18 months and then there will be a charge after that? I can't recall where I read that, and obviously it might change, but it seems to have something to do with the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland and the 18 month celebration.

How will this affect us. We are flying in but staying at RPR for 4 days and then transferring over to OKW on points. I dont suppose Disney would drop us at RPR but would they still give us the free shuttle back to the airport?
Thanks

Magical Express is available to all WDW resort guests. You will need to make arrangements thru MS for stays reserved using points. The shuttle is available in both directions regardless what airline is used, but guests traveling on selected airlines will be able to check bags when they depart for MCO and their luggage will be delivered to their resort without having to wait at the bag carousel. On the return trip, those guests can check their bags right at their resort and claim them when they reach their destination airport.

For those guests not flying with one of the selected airlines, you may still use the service, but won't have access to the special luggage handling. Arrangements still need to be made in advance - you won't be able to just decided to use the service when you arrive at MCO. If you are changing resorts while at WDW, you will still be able to use the Magic Express.

Give MS a call and let them assist with the details. (The service begins on 05/05/05.)

You'll get the special luggage handling from your home airport to your resort at WDW, regardless of which airline you're flying.

But when it's time to go home, you can only check your bags directly from your resort if you're flying American, United (including Ted), Delta (including Song), and Continental. The list of airlines may grow by May 5.

If you search this site for "Magical Express" you'll find lots of other threads.

Here is my question. Can you use Magic Express just to transport your luggage? We're going in May but I think our family is going to need a rental car. I love the idea of not having to wait and haul our luggage from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. :p

From FAQ:

Can a Guest book a “luggage only” transfer?
No.

However, there is nothing to prevent you from renting a car after you arrive at your WDW resort hotel.
Or splitting your party. For example, one spouse rents the car and the other rides the Magical Express bus with the luggge. Kids can go with either.

Best wishes -

Ok....now I'm confused. I read this on Deb Will's site regarding the Magical Express:

"....Disney's Magical Express service is not available to guests of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, Shades of Green, the seven hotels near Hotel Plaza Boulevard, or for Disney Vacation Club Members using points...."

So.....is this service available to DVC members....???

Thanks,
Sammy

The usually reliable Deb Wills has an error at http://allearsnet.com/pl/airport.htm

Deb & Company have taken the correct information that, "Disney's Magical Express service is not available to guests of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, Shades of Green, the seven hotels near Hotel Plaza Boulevard," and, for some stange reason, they've taken it upon themselves to add, "or for Disney Vacation Club Members using points."

I was confused re: this point as well, so I wrote DVC member services to ask. Here's the exchange:

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

Yes. With the exception of Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, all Disney Vacation Club Resorts are included in Disney's Magical Express.

We ask that you call us back after March 1, 2005 to make your reservations for Disney's Magical Express.

Disney's Magical Express is a complimentary service to Disney Resort Guests during the duration of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. If you elect not to utilize the service, you will not receive a "credit" on your reservation.

Disney's Magical Express Service will be available for arrivals beginning May 5, 2005, with resort bookings starting January 2, 2005.

Best Wishes,
Pepe

:rotfl2: I think that is funny they felt a need to clarify that. I can just hear, "Excuse me folks, we're gonna be making one stop before we go to WDW...we're just gonna swing by Hilton Head...shouldn't take too long!!"
