New Airline Fees for 2011

You can't just make a statement like that, and then not educate us! Details, please!!!!

Ok, Tobi. I will spill my guts. :rotfl2:

  • If you fly certain airlines regularly, join their frequent flyer program, Our 7 year old has a CoAir Onepass card has 10,000 miles from trips to WDW.
  • I fly Continental and use the Chase/Continental card. This lets you get extra frequent flyer points/miles, free checked bags, and other various perks
  • We will often upgrade to first class within 24 hours of flight. With CoAir, for $100 or points we get 2 bags checked, drinks, meal, big seat, free headphones, free Direct TV, free blankets. And an infant (if we ask for one) :rotfl2:
  • If we were to pay for 2 checked bags a piece we would pay $150. So the $25 per person investment is worth it.

I am sure I will think of more

I don't like paying the extra fees.......it's the sole reason why I fly Southwest ONLY....the airlines started to charge fees when the gas prices went up...then after the prices came back down....they still kept the charges for baggage...I think it's stupid....now, the issue with the large carry ons is another thing, some people really take advantage of this...and it creates a mess when trying to get off the plane..if you are stuck in the back, you have to wait for all the ones in front of you to get their bags...ugg...

With this said, I will still fly because I don't like to drive long distances anymore, so if Southwest starts with the extra fees, I will have no choice but to pay it.

Thanks! But except for the credit card, this is really only good for people who fly frequently (and fly to the same places enough to be able to use the same airline. Small airports can suck that way). For those of us who end up flying a different airline to every destination, or don't fly as often, what can the ordinary, educated flyer do?

Sayhello

Some airlines love cash.
Some airlines love customers.

How come we as consumers can't charge the airlines fees for overbooked flights, late departures, missed connections, non-working toilets, grumpy flight attendants, and overall crappy service? Yet they can charge us unmercilessly?

Good Point !!!!

Water? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. We are not allowed to bring water with us so that seems a little harsh. I refuse to purchase drinks which is why I always drink water everywhere I go, haha.
