New airline Avelo

Avelo's route map shows they basically operate out of a west coast & east coast hub. However, there are no overlapping flights, meaning the very small number of aircraft they fly (previously reported as 5) have to be split between those hubs. Having only 2-3 aircraft servicing all of those cities seems like something to avoid. I would expect a LOT of flight delays/cancellations given how they have setup their route map.

I'm not sure that can be realistically done with only five planes.

Still not nearly enough aircraft. A few of the destinations I looked up showed only 1 flight per day. Likely that plane then travels to a different destination to keep it in the air generating as much revenue as possible. I wouldn't fly with them and suspect there will be LOTS of angry passengers when delays/cancellations happen.

Bumping this to see if there are any updates on Avelo? We are trying them in August (if our flight is cancelled we could drive the 8 hours, or consider Delta or AA tickets, even though that would throw our original savings by flying Avelo out the window—just saying I get the risks. We could wait the extra few days to get back if cancelled on the return leg.) We are regular fliers of Frontier, Allegiant, and Spirit.

Any newer experiences with Avelo to report?
We flew Avelo out of New Haven in December and January. It was great not having crowds and lines at TSA. Our flight down was on time and our return was delayed a couple of hours due to 8 inches of snow unexpectedly hitting the area. Even the flights out of Bradley, Providence, and NYC were delayed similarly.

I would absolutely fly them again. The flight attendants were very pleasant, as was everyone working at the gate. We paid for checked bags, picking our seats, and extra legroom. It was still cheaper than anything else out of Bradley, Providence, or Westchester.

We are hoping to fly with Avelo again in November. I see they currently have multiple flights a day to and from MCO out of New Haven; when we flew, there was only 1 flight a day to and from MCO.

I just saw that Avelo is going to start flying from BWI to two destinations - MCO being one of them. I'm going to wait to fly with them, but am excited to hear from others that fly them out of BWI.
