I also remember reading somewhere that they are NOT eliminating the sign, just restructuring it so they can remove the support poles in the middle of the walkway.
I'm also a big supporter of the recent changes to accommodate larger crowds. Many of the changes needed to happen regardless of SW:GE, so the new land is not to blame. And they've done a great job too. The biggest improvement is the reworking of Adventureland, which has been amazing.
Just a few years ago, Adventureland was practically impassible - stroller parking was literally in the middle of the path, and every other free inch of space was taken up by people standing around with no place to sit while they ate their Bengal BBQ. DL reworked the space to give stroller parking its own house by Jungle Cruise, created a seating area for Bengal, and to top it off, they added Tropical Hideaway.
It's almost like when a change works, no one notices it or says anything, but when they announce that they're reconfiguring a planter or moving a bench all hell breaks loose in certain corners of the internet.
For all that can be said about "corporate greed" or "destroying the park" or whatever else Disney is regularly accused of, there's no denying that with Project Stardust they are literally putting millions of dollars into nothing more than improving guest experience in ways that most visitors will never even notice. No guest will ever say "I was on the fence about visiting
Disneyland this year, but once I heard they lowered some curbs for better crowd flow, I bought my ticket!"
And yet here we are... they are removing some posts from the middle of a walkway and people act like the park is ruined. Nevermind the fact that those posts were probably only there in the first place because of engineering limitations or cost limitations at the time they were installed.
Didn't mean to go on a rant, but it bugs me that every time anything is announced, so often people just complain no matter what it is. I try to give them some credit where due, and Project Stardust is definitely for the better.
