new 3-D Xmas movie

We just saw the new movie starring Jim Carey and were very impressed by 2 things. First they really did a great job on the 3-D effects; the only parts that may scare youngins would be the Bob Marley's ghost early in the movie as the door knocker sort of jumps out to you. neat 3-D's with chains, shadows and flying scenes.
Second was the price
Outside of Phila., PA. it cost us $28.00 for two of us
$14.00 each for a 7pm Saturday nite prime time showing seemed way too steep for me even compared to Disney standard pricing.
warning to all you parents that take your child and their friends to the movies
make sure you check the prices first and take a collection before loading the mini-van or let the rich Uncle take them.
review: the movie remained very true to the story as I know it. no real twist to the story line itself, but very clever uses of 3-D to do the scenes.
It's a good movie to see for the 3-D effects, not a great movie for a new take
on an old story, and I'm not sure if it's worth seeing the 2-D version as nothing new is added and probabily will be soon on dvd or cable tv.

I really wanted to take the family to this movie this past weekend, but I blinked my eyes and the weekend was over! Is it really Monday

Movie prices have gone through the roof and as a result we only go when its something we all really want to see, this happens to be one of those movies as well as the upcoming Princess & the Frog.

Disney Digital 3-D is very smooth and a welcomed departure from the days of red & blue.

We went last night at the 6:10 movie. We almost had a private showing. There were only 8 people in the theater, including us. It was very good. We paid 10 dollars apiece to see it.

We talked about going to see it Sunday, but the weather was so beautiful, (sunny and 70!) we didn't want to waste it. Another reason though was that it just seems too early to go see a Christmas movie. I was a little surprised at the early November release date, nobody I know is really in holiday mode yet. I wonder if that is effecting ticket sales at all.

We rarely see movies in the theater because of the expense and because there is always someone around you talking through the whole thing or kicking your seat. If we do go, we go to a matinee because it is a little cheaper. We have been thinking about going to see this one. Not sure. My favorite Chirstmas Carol of all time is the Muppet one. Some of the lines come straight from the book and then do it Muppet style. I never get tired of that version.

My wife & I saw it Friday night. We were impressed with the 3D effects. Jim Carrey did a great job with all of the characters. The only negative, is like the rest have said, the price. We paid 11.00 bucks per person. I'm afraid this is becoming the trend with some Disney movies. Next spring Alice is coming out in 3D.

Thanks for the review- we were wanting to see this, but had heard some not-so-great reviews. You have made me want to see it again, even at the price.

OK, this cracked me up! Did he have dreadlocks? Was he singing "One Love"?

Sorry- I know you meant Jacob Marley- it just brought up a really funny image in my mind.
