new 2009 cs dining any reports on the new price??

What did DVC owners get in 2008 in regards to the plans????

No discounts or anything...it's just that DVC owners were allowed to purchase the plan in conjunction with staying on points and didn't have to add park tickets to make it a MYW package.

I've heard that the refillable mug will work at theme park counter service locations as well as the resorts. has anyone else heard this?

This plan is not ment to save you money but more of an all inclusive option for those wanting to pay up front for thier meals. If you end up saving a bit then that is an extra bonus. I'm really glad Disney has decided to do this.
When you book an all inclusive trip in mexico your not getting it to save money on food your getting it to be stress free and have everything taken care of for your trip. This allows for all aspects of your trip to be either paid off in 1 lump sum or paid off over time.

I hope the counter service plan is the one they include with Free Dining next year. ;)

Wouldn't that be a godsend!!!!!!

The plan specifically states that the "refillable mug eligible for refills at Quick Service locations only in your Disney Resort hotel". It will be interesting to see if they go back to the resort specific mugs or continue to use the generic ones that are currently available. With the current generic mugs they have no way of knowing which resort you are staying at. They can not be used for free refills in the parks. Also you can fill them with any beverage you find at the QS beverage filling locations at the resorts including cofee, tea, hot cocoa, sodas, etc. but not bottled drinks, juices, milk.

I really like the dinning plan, it is not that it saves me money; it is that I don't have to worry about paying for meals as we go. Though I called Disney to find out the price of the regular dinning plan and they said for adults under $40.00. They would not give me the actually price, I tried to explain there were a lot of numbers under 40 to chose from. The operator did not find that funny.

Maybe not, but I did! Good one. :thumbsup2

So true...so often it does not really save you money, but most people I run into claim that it does.:confused3 It doesn't for us at least. And I don't like that I still need to carry cash or whip out the credit card to pay the tip now. That is NOT convenient to me.

I had thought that a CS plan might work for us, but we must be cheap...we average less than $30 per person per day on CS, snacks at Disney. (Often share those CS meals).

But I do think it is nice to have more options for people to choose from.:goodvibes

No- if you read the QS plan brochure- it states that the mug is refillable at any quick service restaurant at the resort at which you are staying.

Okay... I always see this on the boards but i never really added it all up but since my son just got his tonsils out today i have some time to look this up!

We have used DDP 5 times now and have always thought of it as a good deal and based on my figures it holds true. I pulled out some receipts from my last trip and this is what i came up with from one day.

It's me my DW and DS (6 years old). As a note... We always get Chicken Strips instead of the nuggets at Roaring Forks. I know it's not on the Child's menu but we have never had a problem with it in the past.

CS
Roaring Forks at Wilderness Lodge
Grilled Chicken Salad with Apple Vinaigrette - Granny Smith Apples, Candied walnuts, Tillamook cheddar cheese, croutons $7.99
Double Cheeseburger with French Fries $6.89
Chicken Strips with French Fries $6.69
Magic cookie Bar $2.39
Magic cookie Bar $2.39
Magic cookie Bar $2.39
3 waters $6.00

Snacks
Assorted Ice Cream Novelties $3.00
Assorted Ice Cream Novelties $3.00
Pop Corn $3.00

TS
Le Cellier
New York Strip Steak - with bercy butter, balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes $34.99
New York Strip Steak - with bercy butter, balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes $34.99
Kid's Grilled Steak $9.59
Cheesecake $6.99
Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake - $7.99

Total for the day $138.29

Now if the price for an Adult for the Basic DDP is going to be $39.99 and the Child's price is $10.99 then the total for the day is $90.97.
This saves us $47.32.... I know it will not always be this much of a savings but i figure it will be close. We like to take time during the day for a nice TS meal and that is our choice. Some people say that it takes time away from the parks but since we are DVC members then we believe we have the time. I know i would have to include a tip but i would do this anyway so that is also a wash.

Sorry for the long post.... Like i said... I have lots of time today

That QS options has to mostly be for a price point for package sales, then an easy upsell to the TS plan.

GILL-WDW...there's also the tip for table service.

But there is no discounted plan for the tip, so it does not matter in a savings calculation, just overall budgeting.
Although savings, you need to consider other discounts available like DVC, AP and/or DDE to make a true savings calculation.
If you can get good ADR's for dinner, then the DDP still seems worthwhile. If you want (or can only get ADR's) for TS breakfast / lunches, then another discount progam may work better. Personally, I'm making a go at the DDE.

I was really hoping DDE would save us money, part of me just "wanted" it to work. But then I mapped out where we would be eating in Dec and next Oct, what we would likely be ordering, factoring in snack credits (we have no problem using them all up on everyday items) and DxDDP still ended up being over $100 cheaper. I was quite surprised, since I have read so many people saying that DDE ends up being less then a dining plan.

They would be about even in cost if we didn't get appetizers (but I'm not giving them up on vacation) or if we ordered more booze at meals(normally just 1 or 2 inexpensive bottles of wine a trip, then a drink or two while roaming WS).

Agree about the brochure, but I heard on a pretty reliable podcast that it was theme parks as well; which confused the heck out of me.

Just confirming...Thanks!

I think the DDP "trick" is to get desirable Dinner ADR's. If you can get ADR's and want to use most of your TS credits on desirable dinners, then DDP is worthwhile.
For instance on the above example, The Le Cellier dinner more than paid for their DDP cost for that day. My problem, in 4 DDP trips I could never get a Le Cellier ADR :sad2:
If you can change you dining habits to use TS at breakfast and/or lunch, you will probably find the swing towards DDE much more favorable, and save money vs the daily DDP cost.
Also are there still enough "everyday items" as snacks. 2008 changed the definition to "single use" and you appear to no longer get any food item under $4...

I believe that the high ticket items such as Dole Whip Float & Onion Rings from Flame Tree BBQ are still available under the Snack credit option. These two items are close to $4 each. If you choose these types of snacks that gives you maximum value for your snack credits as opposed to a bottle of water or a bag of chips if that is your choice. They only cut out the multiple portion items such as the Box of Entenmanns Donuts & Large multi serving bags of chips. The classification on Snack items in the brochure has pretty much been the same each year the plans have been offered. I think the QS plan will be great during F & W festival with the 2 snack credits per day.
