Never...

[And I'm sorry, but "you can't control it" and "kids will be kids"!? The day I can't control my child will be the day we stay at home!
/QUOTE]

I don't think this issue has anything to do with parenting...personally I'm tired of EVERYTHING on these boards coming down to parenting. No one is a perfect parent PERIOD...now back to the topic ;)

This is a "Disney" issue...they are the ones who schedule the activities until 11pm or so and have movies by the pool in the evening. How are you going to keep a hundred or so people from laughing and having a good time at a COMMUNITY pool it's insane!!! Personally I like the sound of kids having a good time at whatever time it is life is too short to stress over cannon balls at 11:00 pm.

I agree...don't get mad at those who are taking advantage of what Disney is offering. I'm sure there are off site hotels that have strickter pool hours :hippie:

Well, if you get 'stuck' in a preferred room and they can't switch you then darn it. But surely they will be able to switch you the next day. If not, ear plugs are a simple solution.
And I still don't see how one choosing to let their children swim when the pool is OPEN means that that parent has lost control of thier children :rotfl2:
I don't set the pool hours, the hotel does. If we or our children want to take advantage of that DURING the posted hours, then so be it. It doesn't make me a bad parent or my children heathens :rotfl:
:offtopic: I seriously think this is the most rediculous thread i've ever been involved in :dance3:

If getting stuck in a preferred room means next to a pool where there is screaming in the wee hours of the morning, than 'darn it' no thanks. And yes, I've been stuck in a room where I couldn't switch, even the next day or the day after....that simple solution is not always an option.
For the record, I'm seldom in the bed (or even in the room) by 12, we close the parks now that my child is older, but I can see where it could be a problem for some. I mean, screaming in the pool at 1 and 2 in the morning...c'mon, seriously?:sad2:

To get one thing strait, never did I imply that allowing your children in a pool during official hours means you're a bad parent or that your children are heathens....quite a strecth to twist it around like that--YOUR words, not MINE. I meant exactly what I said...generally speaking...I would hate to think I could not control my children (pool or no pool) and that I shrugged their disruptiveness off as 'kids being kids' and 'something I couldn't change' as it has been mentioned on the board before.

There are many things you are within your right to do at Disney, but because we as humans (some of us) don't try to be purposely rude, we refrain. This, IMO is just another one of those cases.

The only thing I have to say about the noise issue is yes you're on vacation, but courtesy should not be on vacation either.

As for the hotels, when I was little I wasn't loud and neither were my cousins because we were told to be quiet by our parents because it is not the right thing to be loud and rowdy at late hours of the night, especially at a quiet pool.
If and whenever I have a child, I would tell them the same thing because you should be respectful of other people.

It feels like some people just let their kids go free reign on vacation and thats not safe or a good thing to be doing. Yes you should have fun, but remember there are thousands of other people also there to have fun, respect each other.

I thought the problem was 10pm? I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to be in the pool at 1 or 2 am, it's closed then.
And I did not twist anyones words. I did not say that *you called anyones children heathens. I said that my children are not heathens because they make noise while swimming, they are being kids, swimming, having fun, it's what we like to do :dance3:
And sorry, i'm not being purposely rude either because i'm using the pool DURING pool hours. Being rude would be if I expected people to not use the pool during pool hours. :rolleyes1

I thought the problem was 10pm?
Who's problem? Not mine. :confused3 I know I saw that time mentioned, but not me. And again, I don't think anyone expects others not to use the pool during hours when it's open, but I don't think it's too much to expect swimmers and be mindful of others when it gets late. Disney IS full of families with children...not like Spring Break in Cancun.

Sorry, I misunderstood as you'd quoted my post adn replied to some of my comments. Again, I was just stating my opinion in GENERAL in response to some of the other comments.

Hmmm...guess it's just a matter of opinion and what you consider to be 'rude.' Like I said, there are lots of things we are within our right to do, but don't out of common courtesey. If what I'm doing is blantanly disturbing to others, I don't do it--a choice we all have to make. :flower3:

So now letting a child swim during pool hours is giving them free reign?:confused3 Seriously?

I am not going to get involved in the pool debate but I would like to make a related comment. My dh, dd (6) and I went to the Poly for a few nights in August. We splurged on a MK view room and really wanted to enjoy the tranquility of the resort. However, we quickly learned that was not going to happen. We were awakened every night between 11:30 and 1:00 depending on when our neighbors came back from the parks. The kids were screaming so loud it sounded as though they were in our room. We just accepted it. One morning we woke up quite early for an ADR and our neighbors actually had the nerve to stop us in the hall for running our blow dryer and the shower so early in the morning. Are you kidding me? You woke us up in the middle of the night and then get angry at us for taking a shower at 7:00? Meanwhile, my dd was as quiet as a mouse because of our instructions to her.

Now...I am not stating that all guests are like this but this was an experience that will shed some light on things for me. Will I allow my daughter to be disrespectful of others? Never...regardless of how we were treated.

You know, I go back to my resort pretty often to grab a nap. So from now on, I expect that everyone makes sure their kids are quiet when they are in the pool. The noise is blantanly disturbing to me, and I'm wrecked if I can't have my nap. So I expect everyone to keep their darn kids quiet! Geeze, where is your common courtesey?????

I don't see where ANYONE said that....except you just now.:cool2:
I understand what Sorahana meant though. Seems like alot of times peole shrug off a childs behavior with the 'their on vacation let them be' excuse.

That is what was infered in post 83. There is a big difference between letting a kid swim in an open pool, and letting them have "free reign" on vacation. How that is so hard to see is crazy.

No kidding! I mean sheesh what the heck :lmao:

Then I would say YOU are one of the ones that needs to request a room away from the pool.:rotfl: And, you seem like you could sympathize with the young children who were kept awake. :scared: IF there are lots of people there taking naps at the same time, then I think you are entitled to some quiet too!
I go back to my resort in during day to rest to...but honestly, comparing noise during the middle of the day and noise late at night...

Oh I agree with you there...there is a BIG difference! But I just took her comment to be 'generally' speaking...just my interpretation.:flower3:

Homedics are good, Marpacs are better

If people realized how well these worked, I think every hotel would hand them out at check in. We don't travel without one and we never lose any sleep, in the early mornings or late nights.

You know, I seem to remember talk on here awhile back that at Pop they were replacing all the alarm clocks with clocks that had noise machines in them. That would really be a convenience!

Also, Wamart, Target, Kmart all carry them
Sharper Image has some expensive ones

Why let noisy or even just normal every day sounds people make ruin your sleep?
This whole debate would be moot. :lol

That's what I meant. Obviously letting them go in the pool is cool. I just meant that some people stand by and shrug off certain behaviors because "they're on vacation", thats what I meant by free reign.

One reason I don't request a courtyard view at the WL...I always request the villa pool view..same rate, but much quieter. Enough to look at..very pretty, but tranquil. When you are around a themed pool it's bound to be noisy..even at night.

You can't control the behavior of others; you can only control your response to it.

I would be very surprised if Disney were NOT able to change a Guest's room location, given that there are Guests checking in and out of EACH resort EVERY day.

Well we experienced this at WL this past Dec. and it was 11pm. we had to call down to the front desk twice before they sent someone out. We weren't even asking them to kick them out of the pool but to just keep the screaming and yelling down. Funny thing is, when we posted this on the forum before, at least two people responded that we were ruining someone elses vacation by calling for security. Are you kidding me? Our Sept. trip we booked woods view.
