They're showing this one a lot during the Winter Olympics. Shows Moms with their children as they're growing up, and each Mom is singing the song during each shot, culminating in one of the Moms watching her child skate in the Olympics.

I'm a guy's guy, but I've got to admit the room gets a little dusty whenever I watch that commercial. ;) It's a good one.

Oh, man that KILLED me last night! I don't even HAVE kids and it destroyed me.

Whoever their ad agency is has done one heck of a job on these Olympic commercials.

Ya know...I love those commercials that have you laughing your butts off. This one is quite touching-they did a great job on it!:thumbsup2

Yeah...I think I got an eyelash stuck in my eye over that one too. I don't have kids, I don't have ANY desire to have them, but that commercial got me.

It is good.

But I think the song in the original context of the musical "Carousel" is even better, and ALWAYS reduces me to a sobbing mess.

I LOVE that commercial! All the Procter and Gamble commercials shown during the Olympics have been good, but that one is by far the best.

As far as lashes in eyes, and dust in the room, for me it was my TV screen going wavy and fuzzy.....LOL. I am SUCH a mush!

OK, I hate to be the one to put a negative spin on this, because I agree the commercials are well done; but..... My husband has coached DD's softball for years, he has been the one to practice various sports with her and do most of the driving around and going to games (if they are during a weekday afternoon). When I see these commercials I just have to ask, what about the Dads? I see lots of Dads that are there doing all these things so why are only Mom's getting the credit??? :confused3

Because Motherhood=Sainthood in our society.

Don't get me started about what the glorification of the ideal of motherhood does to children who don't have the "perfect" mother, to women who can't have children or to women who simply choose not to have children.

I agree completely with you. Dads are often just as involved if not more so than the Moms and they deserve just as much praise!

I would say a vast majority of the Olympians who get their stories told during the games, credit their DAD for the support. Apolo Ohno, Lindsey Vonn, the Aerialist, the freestyle skier.

HOwever...the commercial got the message across.

I'm sorry....I find that commercial to be the most sappy, eye-rolling commercial of all the Olympic commercials so far. I do like the other Tide one where every athlete is a kid, but this ones puts me in a sugar coma. Plus, the only thing I can think of when I hear that song is Jerry Lewis' raspy voice at the end of every Labor Day Telethon.

For reasons that would be blatantly obvious for anyone in England (or most of Europe actually) I really really really can't stand that song.

I honestly can't even begin to tell you anything about the song in the commercial. I didn't even know there was a song in it. How's THAT for unobservant!

I have to agree with you. I am a sap, and a mom of 3, and cry at anything about motherhood. But this did nothing for me at all.

The commercial didn't make me cry but my 16 yr old son did. I started to watch the commercial on youtube and he came to watch over my shoulder, when it ended I said "That was a dumb commercial, mom carrying a hockey bag, and a mom polishing skates, I wouldn't polish yours they stink."

DS hugged me and said "thanks for all that you do mom" then took off to his room.

He just qualified for a provincial competition in a week in a half, maybe I could at least get the shoe polish out for him :)

OK, the commercial may not make me cry, but this post definitely made my eyes water. How sweet is your son!?!?

I do know Moms who do the running around and cheering. I just know there are lots of Dads that do, as well, and I wish the recognition extended to them, as well. If both parents were acknowledged in the commercial we would also react like some of the posters here. Instead, my daughter gives an eyeroll and a "yeah, right" and my husband kind of snickers. I just kind of slink out of the room. LOL.
