Never wait listed before? Advice

I am trying to book a week in Dec. (15th-22nd) and finding I can get the middle 5 nights but the first Saturday and last Friday aren't available. Should i try to WL these nights or go with a sure thing - SSR or OKW?

Ack. I am not a gambler nor a patient person. What to do, what to do?

1 day wait lists are more likely than 7 day wait lists. (assuming you want 7 days) I would book your preferred resort for the middle days and then OKW for 1 and 77. I would then wait list day 1 and wait list say 7.

(I say OKW because it is usually less points and you do not want "stranded" extra points if your other resort uses less points than the resort you booked and if the wait list is filled after your banking window. If SSR uses fewer points than your other resort than SSR is perfectly fine, too)

But it is personal reference. If you dislike the possibility of a split stay enough then your only Option is booking OKW for the entire trip now then wait list the entire stay at another resort.

Pretty sound advice from hakepb, I like the suggestion to ensure you have a room somewhere and wait list the first and seventh night. Wishing you success on the WL. Since some of these nights are higher point weekends, you could always make a motel reservation off site as a fall back plan.

For us, 3 resorts in 7 nights would be a lot (OKW, 5 BLT, OKW) so I would book BWV. That way you're only waiting on the one night. Even if you didn't get it, you're only moving resorts once and it's early in your trip when everyone tends to have more energy and patience.

Yep that is what I did. I booked the 6 at BWV and wait listed an extra night. The other bonus is that will chew up all but 2 points before we move to Japan.
