We went to ASDA to do our weekly grocery shop and were amazed that they are starting to put Christmas puddings and cakes out on the shelves already

I know Tim

I was out buying birthday cards for my DN and I couldnt believe they were starting to sell Christmas Cards:eek:

I run a charity shop and we have had Xmas cards out on sale for a week now and they're selling like hotcakes!

Every year they do this! I wish they wouldn't!

Posted at the same time as Latte Lover - but it goes to show that people do start buying stuff already !

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells.......

I'm afraid we have been discussing Christmas Eve/Day just this afternoon.

We currently spend alternate years with each set of parents. My M-I-L normally discusses plans initally about 18 months before whereas my Mum doesn't even mention it until 6 weeks before Dec25th! I tell you it was a bit of a shock when we first got married but I'm used to it now!

I'm sure you'll be thrilled to know that we are going to the In-Laws house along with S-I-L and family and having Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve (so we can spend the whole of the 25th with the children(!!!)) I am making a Banofee pie and the children are all having a present from each couple to play with at the table!

My M-I-L also gave us DD's birthday/holiday spending money today - in dollars of course!

Oh to be so organised

I have to admit I bought a babys first christmas card on saturday because it was so cute (the baby isnt due till the 26th sept) its also because I bought all the other cards in the sales, and I didnt know I was gonna be an aunty again

Hi.

Our local Tesco is putting out its Christmas stuff, chocolate and puddings etc.For the past few years now I've noticed that shops start putting christmas stuff on display in september.I guess there must be a demand for it even in september.

Silent Night,Holy Night....

Oh heck - thought it was bad enough that all the Halloween stuff was taking over an aisle of Asda last week, but Christmas stuff too!! Argh!!

Tim - Love your avatar - only just noticed it properly!! :)

Astrid

I work in retail for a well known clothing and homewear store and we normally have our first Christmas meeting in March before Easter to decide what range of clothes and gifts will be sent out in September.

Way early I know, thinking about Christmas before Spring begins...

 :wave2:

I noticed those in Asda too, plus when we went to Makro they had out all the choccie selection boxes, cards, wrapping paper etc!! Is it me or does it get earlier every year?

Anz :earsgirl:

I think it does get earlier but I make my xmas cards so I have to start early to get them done in time!

If its any consolation with the lead-times on the stuff at work I deal with I already well into 2005!

Yes, they do the same thing over here too. Macy's has the Christmas tree shop up at Labor Day.

I've had to run the Halloween candy gaunlet at the grocery store since August. Once that's gone, it will be Christmas candy, then Valentines, then Easter. It's wonder our kid's teeth don't all fall out from rot.

Well I had DD (madmouse91) off school today as she was feeling unwell and guess what ? she wrote her Christmas cards.

I know it's my own fault for buying them, but hey I didn't expect her to start writing them so soon.

mandymouse (self confessed Christmas Nut !!):earsgirl:

p.s. M & S have the most gorgeous 'The Snowman' cards in, I'm getting them soon.
