Up until last Thursday, I thought I would never go to WDW in the Summer, but .........

It was my birthday and DH had been gone for a month and I needed a pick me up, so I made a reservation for BWV - Preferred View in a 1 bedroom for Aug 22 - Aug 26! That will make our last on site resort to stay in!

There was availability (1 bedrooms) at BWV - Preferred View; OKW; and SSR for anyone wanting to make a short notice reservation.

Can anyone say "Water Parks!!!"

If you can survive Baton Rouge summers, you'll be fine in WDW. I think you have a pretty good idea of what the heat and humidity can be like.

Besides, you'll be there at a great time while crowds are down quite a bit so you won't be battling those long lines in the heat like we will in July! Glad you've had a chance to sample all the WDW DVC resorts! :thumbsup2

We have always gone in the middle of the summer and enjoyed it. Yeah, it's hot but there are plenty of places to keep cool. Enjoy!!

We swore the same thing last summer, hated the heat and the long lines. Our next trip is for July 4-12  This time we are doing it differently, we are buying Waterpark annual passes, visiting MK, Epcot and Sea World. We are also avoiding AK, it gets so hot over the summer. By the end of this trip, I'll probably be saying never again and then book a room for July 2008...;)

My family DH DD(13 months), and dd(4) went last summer at the end of July and decided we would never go in the summer again. Sunday I found 50 one way airfare and now we are going in June. :rotfl: We are still excited. Just planning on spending more time in the pool.

Count me as a "Never Ever" too!

Now that kids are getting older & DVC has enabled us to take multiple trips a year we need to watch the number of days we pull the kids out of school.

August 24 here we come! :beach:

Guess I fall into the "Never say Never" category too. We usually go over Memorial Day week but this year we decided to do our annual May trip and add a few days at SSR in July. The July trip is supposed to be for relaxing by the pool...we'll see if that really happens.

I like the summers---at least you know what clothes to pack. ;) My problem with going in the winter is that you're never exactly sure what the temps will be until you get there. I've had 80 degree days and I've had 40 degree days. In the summer.....no surprises. :rotfl:

Think of the French Quarter in August....you know that feeling you get when you breathe in and it feels like you're sucking warm mist into your lungs? You know....90 degrees and 100% humidity? Tourists dropping like flies? It's kinda like that without all the drunks! pirate:

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

"Never" comes pretty quickly once you have to start vacationing around school schedules. We've done some summer trips and survived well enough. The parks are open later so that's an escape from the daytime heat. Crowds can be severe though, even at night. It's doable, but in a perfect world, I still prefer October-December.

***This is the OP, just at work now***

Glad to know that there are others in the "never say never" club. :rotfl: :rotfl:

My thoughts were that we have AP's, a "free" room with DVC (plenty of points for this year), and I think we even have two passes to the water parks from park passes a few years ago, so a "free" trip!

We are really looking forward to seeing how things are at BWV's.

Drinking lots of water and staying in the shade!

Count me in on the Never Club. Not only did I go to WDW last July, but DLR too within the same week! I guess that makes me a double dipper into the Never Say Never pool.:rotfl:

Us too - we have always visited WDW in Sep/Oct before (witht he exception of a quick trip in Feb this year) but we have just booked for August (20th-30th) and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it :thumbsup2

Have gone in the summer twice. Once at the end of August and the other time was June/July. My favorite time to go is October but the kids are too old to pull out of school now. The end of August is actually less crowded than July. Florida starts school the 2nd week of Aug. so it cuts down on local crowds. The key to going in the summer is to get to the parks early in the a.m., go back to your resort around 12 or 1:00 and either hang out at the pool or take a nap and then go back out for the night around 5:00pm. I do have a warning about July though. Last year we went for a very long vacation from June 23rd - July 8th. 4th of July week was soooo crowded and forget about getting into a park on the 4th unless you get there very early and plan to stay all day. They actually stop letting people in around 10:30 - 11:00am if it gets too crowded. Plan a hang out at the pool day if you're going to be there over the 4th. I am also planning my next trip for June 20th - July 3rd of 2008. Just want to leave before the 4th. Can't handle those crowds on top of all that heat!

I am from Louisiana also, (Houma)...we went to DISNEY last summer the end of June...it was horrible...the heat, the crowds....never again...even being from Louisiana we could not stand the heat......we won't make that mistake again. i ma sure maybe the end of Aug . and lower crowds may not be as bad ...
