Cast- Me 43, Hubby 49
Dates March 3-12th ( 4 of these days were on train and in Washington, DC for the day)
Stayed- Pop Century 1 night, Grand Floridian 4 nights
Occasion? 6th Anniversary and first time to WDW alone.

Day 1 and 2- arrive train station 1am.
Train day. Taking train from Indianapolis to Orlando. We both love trains and usually drive. We thought this would be different. The trip was fun but if we do it again we will get a room. NO we did not get one this time. BIG mistake. First day we arrived in West Virginia around noon and we didn't have a stop until we got to Richmond NC that evening. We had to take a motor coach from there and do not even remember where we went to but it was a 30 minute drive. Well it would have been but we broke down and sat on the side of the rode for about 45 minutes. That's ok, we are on our way to WDW to stay at the GF and it is our anniversary and I DONT CARE! I am one happy/giddy camper! My DH takes me in stride. Actually he thinks I am adorable with my whole Disney freak thing, so I am lucky. He loves vacationing, no matter where we go but he is not such a Disney freak as I am. Went to sleep around midnight on the 4th.

Day 3-
Arrive in Orlando at noon and are met by Bob from SunRay Transport whom I would HIGHLY recommend if you need transportation. Our first night had to be at Pop Century. We arrived at 2:pm and checked in no problems. We have never stayed at PC before. It is pretty nice and my DH really liked it. We had fun walking around and exploring things. We went over to MGM at 5pm for a ADR at Prime time cafe, also a first and we had fun. Our waitress was pretty easy on us and actually helped me to pick on DH. She gave us a test and we passed by teaming up with another couple at a nearby table when our Aunt was not looking! FUN! We saw the ESPN "stuff" while there. We saw the celebrity parade and watched baseball tonight being taped and that show with the twins?? can not remember their names but my DS loves them and has me sit with him and watch it....so I got pics of them for him and called him on the cell phone and let him listen and sent him some pics on the phone. It was fun.
After MGM we went over to EPCOT for awhile. and saw illuminations. We rode some rides but can not remember which now, I know we rode TT. Went back to hotel. We never even unpacked because in the AM we were transferring to the GF.

Day 4-
Woke up early and called down for pick up and transfer of our luggage. Then we went over to the food court and ate. The food court was pretty good at PC. We then took the bus to AK to get there by opening. We have never been at the parks at opening before and this time we made it to 3 of the 4, we did not get to MGM at opening. We had a blast at AK. First thing we rode the safari. It was great early in the Am. then over to its tough to be a bug and off to Everest to fast pass it and then over to the bats. We have never seen the bats before but there was alot of talk about them before we left on vacation so we checked them out and YUP they are HUGE. And YUP there are NO windows to protect you but as they told us the wingspan is so big they can not get through the openings!!
Ok, Everest was the last thing we did before leaving the park and it was very good. We did not ride it again while there but the one time was good. The lines were huge. The longest we waited ( thanks to TGM) in any line was 15 minutes and that was for Everest.
Off to the GF to check in. We took the GF bus from AK to GF. We got there and at check in the Cm noticed that it was our anniversary and upgraded us from a garden room to a lagoon view with a partial view of the castle. Partial because there are trees off the balcony but this time of year it does not obstruct the view much. WOW- we were so excited. We stayed in Boca CHica in room 8431. It is a dormer room with a balcony. It had a cathedral ceiling too. Beautiful bathroom with marble counter tops. So that night we went to EPCOT, because MK was off limits according toTGM. When we went back to the GF that night, in our room was a bottle of champagne, 2 keepsake glasses and a autographed picture of Mickey and Minnie :) It was pure magic.

Days 5,6,7,8,9 and 10 to come..........

You're doing great so far, Christine! Looking forward to the rest of them and - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Looks like you are off to a great start, Christine! I can't wait to read more!

My sister and her family took the train from Virginia to Orlando once, and really enjoyed the ride. I may have to consider doing that myself sometime.

Thanks for posting and Welcome to the DIS! I can't wait to read more!

Will be waiting for more - train sounds so relaxing but it would be neat to get a room for a long trip so you're rested :cloud9:

Wow, I must say you all are a very friendly bunch! That is so nice. I belong to a yahoo type groupd and they barely ever talk to me....LOL I actually posted this report ( as I said my first one) and did not get a response. This is why I needed to know if I did it ok! Hummmm, maybe I shouldnt be so lacking in confidence! :)
Ok, well I am glad to know that my report was not horrible and I will certainly finish it. It was a fantastic trip!
We are going back in Dec to POFQ Dec 3 - 9th.
Thanks for the welcome and I will finish that report soon!

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for sharing.

I rode in an Amtrak train when I was 12 from Chicago to Bowling Green. It amazes me when I see people take a train to Orlando. Thanks for sharing.

Looking forward to the rest of your report! DH & I are thinking of taking a train to Chicago, which is only about 120 miles from here.

Congrats on your anniversary and the special treatment at GF.

I never would've thought of taking a train. I bet it's fun. It sounds like a magical trip -- GF for anniversary, how heavenly!

Looking forward to reading the rest!

I checked into taking the train once. AMTRAK said I could get to Orlando from TN via New Orleans! LOL. My kids would love it; may research that again.

I want to go to the GF for DH and my 10 year, which is only 3 years away....so I better start saving. :rotfl: Glad you had some magic. I went to the Poly for my b-day and nuthin.

BTW. I have a cousin named Christine Martin. Huh. Who knew it was so popular? :teeth:

Oh the GF sounds fantastic. Wonder if I'll ever get to stay there? For now I will have to live vicariously through you.

You are doing great! I can't wait to read the rest. I keep thinking it would be nice to ditch my kids and do a grown-up trip to WDW. Well maybe nice is not the right word- wicked. But fun.
