Word to the wise: Just Flowers added a $20.97 delivery charge to a balloon order but would not give this information over the phone at the time of payment. My 17ds gave the credit card info with full confidence the total was $29.95. Imagine his shock when the email reciept was $55.98. He called back immediately to cancel and they were unable to! No manager on duty to reverse the charges! Lesson learned for ds.

I did get the charges reversed this morning when a manager was there, but who knows if they will follow thru.

Will never trust Just Flowers again!

Thanks for the warning. Glad you got everything resolved but what a headache.

Hmm, perhaps you son didn't read very clearly. It is on the website:
http://www.justflowers.com/CS_DeliveryInfo.asp
Service Fees

For florist delivered products the service fee and starts at $9.99. The actual price will be calculated and shown before checkout and depends upon factors such as delivery date, if the order is expedited, item, etc.

Pricing:

Prices shown below product images do not include our shipping and service fees. Prices below the small image are the base price for the item.

That's why, when I'm sending flowers, I always do a search on Yahoo or Google to find a LOCAL florist with good reviews, and order directly through them.

- It's cheaper (fewer "fees")
- You get a better, more custom product
- You help out a local business

It's so easy in this day & age - I don't understand why those online flower places are even still in business.

Prncess674: Thanks for your input. My ds ordered over the phone so he had no knowledge of policies other than what they told him.

Hope the word gets out how horrible this place is.

It is a lesson both he and I now have learned and will not forget. Hopefully others will learn from our mistakes.

Not that I dont agree that they are NOT your best optition for flowers or balloons etc... but to be honest I think its a very valuable lesson for your son.

#1 I would never order from anywhere without having all the fees given to be prior to handing over my CC info... #2 FINE PRINT... read the fine print before you order anything #3 of course there will be delivery fees I am guessing the balloons were $29.99 you have to be certain some fees will apply for delivery.

Sometimes you need to take a lesson learned... :) :thumbsup2

Absolutely! He and I had the discussion that if he learns this now he will be better off than half of the adults out in the real world. I just hope it truly is over and the money is put back into the account.

I learned to be more hands on with these things too. I was standing right there before I gave him the credit card and made sure he had the total. They told him, "Yes it is just as we told you. We will send you a receipt to your email account." Of course that is where the difference was discovered.

The other really concerning thing about it was everytime we tried to cancel, including this moring, they offered more off and another one time offer. Very hard to convince them to cancel. I had to be VERY firm and almost rude to get a cancellation.

Lesson learned for both of us!

Tandy if the cancellation does not go thru contact your cc issuer and file a dispute. There is NO reason that they should not have told your DS over the phone what the fees would be and there is no reason they should not have been able to cancel the order. That's horrible customer service!! Thanks for posting it here!

Respectfully: "Would not" or "did not"? If he didn't ask the total cost, that's not the fault of JustFlowers. If he did ask and someone on the phone told him the total cost would be just $29.95, you have a valid case for getting the charges reversed. Otherwise, frankly, your son should just consider this an expensive lesson - or if the manager follows through on the reversal, you should consider yourself lucky.

By the way, if before someone answered the phone your son heard a recording that 'the call may be recorded for training...' or similar, or if the rep he spoke with said something similar, odds are it WAS recorded. You can call and try to get the recording played for you.
