Never gone deluxe,should I switch from POR to WL?

This trip is a weekend getaway for just me and DH.We have ressies at POR because we both think we will like the theming.(we will be spending most of our time at the resort,may not do the parks at all.) We can get WL or Akl for just $80 more.We want a place that's relaxing,but also offers lots to do(we will have a car)haven't even considered room qualityyet.Please help us choose!

I've stayed at both Resorts. IMHO, I would stick with POR. I think it is actually more romantic than WL...when my husband and I spent a weekend there last year, we had a nice corner room with king bed. Plus, the only negative experience I have ever had with Disney Resort CM's was at WL. Use the "saved" money for a nice dinner out or some extra souveniers!

I don't know tough call. We love the WL but have never stayed at POR although a friend says it is great. We love the proximity of the WL, it appears smaller than other resorts so it is more cozy to us. Have fun where ever you decide. It is a whole new experience without the kids!

I think the WL can be a very romantic place to go.The theme is very warm, rustic and beautiful.You can also take a boat ride to the CR and do the monorail resort hopping.You start at Cr and enjoy a drink there and go to the poly (beautiful bar right by the water) and land in the GF. I think there is a great place in the CR you could even watch the wishes from.Plus the WL is just a boat ride to MK which is very nice.Good Luck in you choice.

We just switched our Oct vaca from WL to POR. We think we will like the theming better, and it will save us a substantial amount of money. Since you are only going for the weekend, the savings isn't that great, but the theming still looks very nice for a couple at POR. I hear there are lots of nice places to take walks and what not.

Our recent stay at WL was really disappointing. We found it really in need of refurb and just kinda lacking the 'magic'. I was expecting to LOVE WL, maybe I had it too built up.

On the other hand our after cruise stay at AKL was Fabulous!! Would definitely consider that as an option. We have spent a couple of long stays at POR and we really love it there. It's only real drawback for me is the distance to the parks, but it sounds like this won't be an issue with your trip, so I would highly recommend it.
